Mike and Mike just previewed the Pats. They were not very impressed with our club. Greenberg has us at 8-8 and Golic at 9-6. Greenberg said he thinks that Belichick is the best coach in the NFL but year after year he stockpiles picks and never makes any high picks and wonders if he doesn't know what he is doing. They are drinking the Dolphins and Jets koolaid (Greenberg is obviously a Jets fan) and said that those 2 teams are definitely moving up and that someone therefore has to fall and it is the Pats.

It was infuriating to listen to, especially when Greenberg (whom I like) said he could see all of the areas where the Jets have gotten better (which I'd argue all day), but he couldn't see one area where the Pats have improved.

And people keep talking about the D like it was ranked 26th in the league. They were 5th in points allowed, and 4th (or maybe 3rd) if you throw out the meaningless Houston game. That defense was young and inexperienced, and they still kept people out of the endzone all season. They suffered terribly from the offense not being able to close late in games.

Eh. Whatever. Football's here.

I can understand the argument of ranking the Jets higher than us, but how the hell do the Dolphins jump us? Just because they signed Dansby and traded for Marshall? They don't have a true NT, the rest of their defensive line sucks (apparent by their DE bum rush), their LB core is god awful besides Dansby and their best pass rusher can't even play three downs. The only unit that will improve on the Dolphins defense is their secondary. But Safety is a huge concern for them.

Honestly, I'd take the Bills defense over the Dolphins. People might laugh at that but Bill Parcells really screwed the pooch with the Fins, I expect him gone in two years.

They're also relying on Richie Incognito to solidify their offensive line, and I'm sure some of you remember - Richie Incognitio was cut from the Bills (and Rams). That's right, the guy cut from the offensive line that everyone labels as one of the worst in the NFL is being asked to play on the Dolphn's O-Line.

Not upset because we are relying heavily on our rookies next year and second year players. most of these guys are unproven.

Golid said 9-7.

look at it this way, we can start using the disrespect card again. Someone give Rodney a call.

We were an old team that needed to get young. In Greenberg's case he just sees big names added to the roster. The question I would have for him is how do you let a 1,000+ RB go and you become better?

LOL. All this 8-8 talk will be dismissed by the end of week 2. A typical beatdown of gang green on their on turf will drive that point home. I wouldnt worry. Greenie pretty much has no idea what he's talking about. Jets fans all know that.

People see the additions without any of the subtractions.

They added LT, but didn't lose Thomas and Washington.

They added Cromartie, but didn't lose Shepherd. Also, the Cormartie they got is the one from 2007, not 08/09.

They added Holmes, but forget he's suspended for the first 4 games.

Sanchez is GOING to get better, because every QB gets better their second year, especially those with god awful rookie seasons...

This is the logic we fight, ladies and gentlemen... bask in its glory.

In fairness to Goldberg, he did say he wouldn't be surprised if the Pats went 12-4.

I really don't care. The Jets made a lot of boom or bust pick ups this season. The Dolphins who were clearly several steps behind the Pats last year made some decent pick ups. People do discount the players that both teams lost this offseason (Thomas Jones, Alan Faneca, Jason Taylor, Jason Ferguson, Joey Porter, Leon Washington, etc.). I could see both teams being huge disapointments due to preseason expectations.

As I always say, preseason predictions are like butts. Everyone has one and most of them stink. I personally don't care for either Mike's football analysis in general. If both had the Pats going 16-0 and winning the Super Bowl, I wouldn't give them anymore respect than their current predictions.

I think both Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan would disagree with you about every QB gets better year two.

Mike is OK, but I can't stand Mike.

If Greenberg has us at 8-8 then I'm expecting 16-0. This was a man that was screaming about how the Jets were poised to take over the division prior to 2007.

Mikey does tend to be a bit homerish. Golic tries to be even handed when assessing talent....

Jets could get 12 wins or they could get 8 wins.....they have as many if not more ???? than the Pats....

LOL! I totally disagree. Mike carries the show while Mike really is a dead weight.

Flacco was better in year 2. He was banged up in the playoffs so I really don't hold that against him too much.

Ryan was a little worse but I would attribute some of that to his injury and Turner's injuries. He did seem to regress a little no question.

Sorry, that line was included in my sarcastic POV. It was meant to mock those who see only the positive signs on the Jets without considering any of the negative. Jets fans assume Sanchez will get better, but there is a pretty extensive history of QBs NOT improving from their rookie year, whether that rookie year was successful or not.

I think the question marks between the three teams are all pretty equal. Where the Pats pull ahead is at the QB position. Not only are both Henne and Sanchez unproven, but neither had a particularly good year last year (Sanchez awful, Henne very meh). Sure, they could improve, but if they don't neither team is going very far.

Also, I expect Brady to improve with the extra year back from injury, probably just as drastically as either of those young QBs would improve just from getting more experience. So even if Henne and Sanchez get better, it's a wash.

The Jets passing game could get better, a lot better, but that all depends on how good the running game is. The way I look at it, the running game took a hit. So, we shall see how Sanchez plays without the comfort of a formidable run game. I could be wrong - the run game could be just as strong as last year - I just think it won't be.

What Jets fans fail to see, in my opinion, is how essential Revis is to the defense. Revis is a shut down corner. You can blitz like crazy with that kind of trust. Without it - burn city. My guess is that every QB that the Jets play this season are hoping Revis holds out for the long-haul and that no deal is made. As a Pats fan I hope he sits on his ass all year.

I laugh at the folks that say Cromartie and Wilson will be just as good. Child please! Wilson is a rookie, folks.

Trying to take off my Jet-hating goggles for a moment as I do think Sanchez will improve for a few reasons. 1) He has some decent receiving weapons to work with. 2) He showed some good poise in some pretty intense road playoff games. 3) There were many games where he was so incredibly bad, he has nowhere to go but up!

On the flip side, losing Thomas Jones and some talent on the o-line could impact his ability to make plays (additional pressure and d's playing more of a pass-d first set.

Not saying hes the next Marino but a 3200 yd, 20+ TD, 60% comp% 10-12 INT year is not out of the question.

But will he recover from being dumped by Meadow Soprano? ;-).
