I think Shanahan is doing exactly the right thing.
Haynesworth cashed a 21 million dollar check, then abandoned the team, and told Shanahan that he needs to put in the system Albert wants or trade Albert. That is challenging the authority of the coach, but worse it is putting yourself ahead of the success of the team.
I dont want to be part of this team unless what I want it the priority.
Shanahan is showing Haynesworth that while Albert may have more money, Mike is in charge.
The Redskins are a better team with Shanahan exerting his authority and showing the malcontent that the team matter more than him.

I'm sure that Shanahan designed the test so that Haynesworth would fail it. Wait til he passes the test and takes his spot on the second unit.

I dont think Shanahan cares if Haynesworth files a grievance. The NFLPA cant make him play a 43 as far as I know.
But I guarantee you if Haynesworth files a grievance and thereby continues to challenge authority and team culture, it will only get worse for him. Shanahan needs to break him or at least show his team that he is willing to, then its business as usual.

What I heard this morning was that all the players had to do two sprints of 300 yards or something like that, but Albert excused himself to go to the can between his, and Shanny felt he took a little too long and made him do a third.

I'm not a fan of Shanahan, but I am with him on this one. Okay, so Albert's never played in a 3-4 before, but geez, he's got this ridiculous contract and no one else is going to take it on in a trade (never mind whether or not they would take him for a more agreeable salary.) Shanny told him, if you're that unhappy, go see if you can find someone and we'll look too, but once you cash that $21M check we expect you to do your job. He cashed the check and now he wants to get out of doing his job.

Players are always the ones saying, "Hey, this is a business." Yes it is, and in business things change. Zorn isn't there anymore and he's not coming back. That's the way it is.

But he and whoever were there described pro sports and coaching. They said something like in baseball you do what you want. In the NFL you have training camp and curfews and fines, and the coach treats you like this and in the NBA they 'treat you like a man, there are no curfews' and the coaches deliver room service to the players.
Sadly, all sports appear to moving in the direction they described the NBA as.

I was listening to the NFL on Sirius this morning and they said that if you participated in the off season work out program you didn't have to take the conditioning test and big AL didn't, thats why he had to take it.
