Nine-year veteran pass-rusher Derrick Burgess, who did not report Thursday for the start of the New England Patriots' training camp, is considering retirement from the NFL, sources confirmed to ESPN.com.

I laugh...

PASS RUSH was a huge issue last season and they did nothing about it, really. This is just peachy. The Pass rush, which was bad, may get worse.

Well, this sucks. He was looking decent at the end of last year.

Did the Pats know about this yesterday...as bad as Crable is, you'd think they'd at least keep him on the roster, since they are now painfully thin at OLB.

Wow.
Losing depth at this point sets that Pats way back.
Open camp and lose two OLB's from the very weak corps, before any team stretching, creates an enormous challenge.

This is not good news, he really improved towards the end of last season. Ugh the thoughts of Ninkovich as a starter makes me cringe!

For the record, Dale and Holley have been talking about this on WEEI and have not questioned its truthfulness during the time I've been listening. They also did a (weak) comedy bit about bringing back AdT....

Maybe he just didn't want the humiliation of failing the conditioning test

Tippett still looks to be in good shape at 50 years old....lets bring him in camp,he can't worsen this group any more than it is.
