Belichick: Crable could return

I couldn't quite decide if he was sincere in saying that. I'm guessing both sides will opt for a fresh start.

Either way, Crable needed a fire lit under his arse.

Some players need to get cut for themselves and their teammates to realize that you can't just coast on potential and keep a spot being injured multiple years.

“If Shawn physically is healthy, that he would have a good chance to compete on the field based on what we saw coming out of college, and the limited opportunities that we’ve seen to evaluate him in the last two years. But right now I just don’t think he’s there.”

BB doesn't sound overly enthused but he clearly doesn't rule it out either. Oh BB...:bricks:

Bill, shhhhhhhhh, now the Jets will grab him.

PJ, should we sign the beast?

I doubt it - failing the conditioning test does not necessarily mean that passing it will put him back in the team. If he truly has an injury then its possible, but I think it is more about professional attitude and if there is no injury he has the wrong mind set for the Patriots. Much as I wanted him to succeed, he may not be the right material for a pro.

I doubt he learns in a few days what he didn't learn the last few years.

I'm thinking he failed it on purpose to go to a squad more in tune with his lazy attitude.

That is just BB being BB. He never closes the door on anything.

Belichick never burns bridges. Hell, he'd probably take back Mangini under the right circumstance. But if Crable's not ready to compete NOW, given the situation, Im no longer ready to hold my breath for the man. Im over it.

Nothing to see here.

If you've done any paying attention to BB's public statements about players he has cut over the years they are always similar to this.

BB doesn't burn bridges, but Mangini threw about a dozen Molotovs on the bridge he took out of Foxboro.

And that's the last we'll hear about Crable. From now on, he'll only talk about the players that are on the team ;)

I wouldn't make any assumption on Crable's character or motivation just yet. Though, I imagine it's tough to have that professional discipline as he never quite got to participate in enough training. Did he play in any pre-season games?

I don't think Mangini could pass the conditioning test, so no worries.

Where do you get that he has a "lazy attitude?"

Yikes Mr Icy; that is pretty harsh. We have no idea what the problem is so I consider this a bit of a leap.

My problem with Crable is that he just was not effective on the field. Did not seem to have any sort of pass rush move nor was he any good in coverage....but the OLB situation is now a little desperate....

To me he sounded disappointed because he thought he had lots of talent coming and I don't think I ever heard him leave such an open door to somebody he cut before. Then again, it may just be my wishful thinking.

I am calling it first. The Crable is going to 53 by weeks end. Watch this space.

Crable did win a Black Shirt this past week. It is given to the player or players who did most for the victory. Its tough to get for a guy on the PS. He had to have been a great player on the scout team, to do it.

You never know with BB. IIRC the Maroney spot is still open; been a lot of talk about it being filled by Murrell or Edge's cousin, but nothing yet. There'd be a certain symmetry to swapping Crable into Maroney's spot -- one enigma in place of another.
