OT: Terrence Cody unable to participate in Ravens TC

i guess he lost weight for the combine so he can get drafted then went back to eating it's hard to keep the weight off

Man, it bites to be a Ravens fan this year, between Cody and that other kid who fell down the stairs.

Everyone was singing Ozzie Newsome's praises for drafting Cody and Kindle in the second round. All they did was draft a fat ass and a guy with a bum knee (Crable v 2.0). Even with the Anquan Boldin acquistion, I think the ratbirds will be worse than last year. I cannot wait to see these guys again and deliver some sweet payback!

Its day one and he'll learn..He would have looked solid in a pats uniform.. Freeing up wilfork to move to RDE or COdy to move to DE.. He's a natural run stuffer.. Balt is going to be tough to run on for a couple of years..

Cody is a f**king blob. Kindle is an idiot.

I'm not high on their draft class.

Cody was dominant in college, but that physique, yikes. For some perspective, Ron Brace was the #1 slowest player in the draft in 2009. Compare these numbers from Cody's slimmed-down, draft-prep peak:

Brace 6'3.0" 330 5.48/3.15/1.88 32 28" 08'03" 4.73 8.15
Cody 6'3.5" 349 5.71/3.23/1.90 22* 20.5" 07'06" 5.03 8.19

That's not just normal overweight NT stuff. That's the worst measurables I've ever seen. (A 20.5" vertical???)

Were there a bunch of Jets fans clamoring for those two leading up to the draft too? I didn't see too much push for Cody around here, but a lot of folks wanted Kindle. I never really understood it either, even before the knee stuff came out.

Cody will be pairing with Ngata to make the most formidable run stopping D-line in the NFL. It could extend Ray Ray by a season or two.

In the end, I don't think the Ravens care if a tub of goo struggled a bit with 40 and 50 yard dashes. They sure as hell didn't mind having Siragusa and Adams on the line, and Adams probably couldn't have passed a conditioning drill if you let him use a motorcycle to do it.

People are just finally starting to realize that all the Ravens did was draft two guys with big question marks and fell for that reason? I can't stand people who praise a draft the night after it happens. Those GMs up there know a lot more than we do, and plenty of them passed on both Kindle and Cody.

i do agree but what draft pick is not a ? and the ravens don't need a day one starting NT or OLB in the end i think there picks will work out ok for them IMO

Maybe he put weight on from the munchies, because he looks high as a kite :)

Actually, he looks embarassed.

I love people who think this. We can't give our opinion on draft picks at the time? Guess what, if Alualu becomes an all pro, great. It was still a reach and a bad job of working the draft. As a patriots fan you should know all about this. It's not just about the players you take, it's about working the board and making the most out of your draft picks.

And those Gms that "know a lot more than we do" miss about just as much us fans. Sure, some know more. But seriously, look at Buffalos drafting the last few years. Shocking. Just because they are paid to do this doesn't mean that we, as fans, can't have opinions too.

I was going to go with "high". His chest (tits) and stomach look like a shocked face. Sort of like this:  God, what a fat lard he is. Granted I don't like Cody simply because he's an Alabama product. But, dislike aside, he and Ngata together are going to be EXTREMELY difficult to run the ball against.

No they don't, and neither do I. For a DT, speed obviously means burst off the line and short-area quickness, with the relevant measures being 10-yd split, cone, short shuttle, VJ, BJ. And Cody's results on those measures were no prettier than his torso. (But perhaps his 22 bench reps make up for it?)

Here's what successful DTs looked like on those 5 "lineman speed" measurables:

Darnell Dockett: 1.71 *** *** 31" 08'09"
Tommie Harris: *** *** 4.31 31" 9'1"
Kris Jenkins: 1.75 7.86 4.41 31" 9'00"
Haloti Ngata: 1.73 7.97 4.69 31.5" 9'02"
Vince Wilfork: *** 7.62 4.50 26.5" 8'5"

vs. Cody: 1.90 8.19 5.03 20.5" 7'06"

I think that's due cause for concern.

Well my vertical is about 6" so his doesn't sound to bad.

It looks like hes afraid of what the guy next to him is going to do with that square hes holding
