Breer was on Comcast NE Sportstonight at 10:00pm. He mentioned the following five names as the biggest surprise cut possibility: Maroney, Holt, Taylor, Crable and Wheatley. Felger agreed on Maroney. Tanguay disagreed.

Holt and Taylor both don't play special teams, as backups, was his reason for their possible release.

I don't see Maroney getting cut. He may not be good enough to be a starter, but he is good enough to make the 53.... especially on rookie contract $

Otherwise, I could see Crable, Wheatley, Taylor and Holt (most likely to least likely) getting cut.

Maroney is the only one that would shock me.

A ballsy pick would be Randy Moss or Ty Warren, not Shawn Crable. How the hell is he a surprise cut? He's never even played a game. It's a surprise if he ISN'T cut.

Breer and Felger are such ******* ******s, hahaha. I'll bet em a million dollars that Maroney--you know, our starting RB who's still in his rookie contract--doesn't get cut.

Of the others, the only cut that would surprise me is Holt. Frankly, I kinda expect Wheatley and Crable to get cut, and Taylor wouldnt surprise me at all.

So it was Breer, Felger and Tanguay... :blahblah::blahblah::blahblah:

They couldn't stuff Borges' fat ass on there too? What a waste of oxygen these clowns are. I bet Gasper was in the corner taking notes on how to be a better "reporter".

Galloway didn't get cut and he showed little in TC last year....IMO there is no way Holt goes if Galloway was no better and yet he still made the team...for a few weeks, anyways

Gasper was off to the side cheering on all three of them and congratulating them on their predictions while beating off at the thought of one day being the star of the program

Holt gets cut if he can't acclimate to their offense.
Taylor gets cut if he simply has nothing left in the tank and/or gets injured.
Wheatley/Crable get cut if they can't beat out any of the UDFAs or rookies to for the last few special teams spots.

And Maroney? I hate this guy with as passion but he has managed to wiggle his way into the starting role and create a niche in the rushing attack, albeit almost anemic and pointless, but still a role nonetheless- anything short of a full blown fistfight with teammates, dogging it in practice and in the preseason games(not just terrible play but full blown dogging it) will get him cut. A trade away for a draft pick in lieu of cutting, maybe. But not cut.

Maroney is the most talented all-around back the Pats have. He's still only 25 even though it seems like he's been around forever. He's still on his rookie deal and is a FA after this season, so he should be extra motivated to put up a big season so he can get a nice deal. I can't see BB cutting him.

I don't think Crable would be a surprise cut. I expect Holt to definitely make this team, especially with Welker's knee still a question.

I think the surprise cut could be Fred Taylor.

That's not a very good list. Taylor (age), Crable (injury), and Wheatley (injury) really wouldn't suprise me at all. Maroney is the best RB on the team when healthy. As has been mentioned, he's young and is still coming in at a good value to us. He's not going anywhere. Holt, unless he's terrible in camp, is coming in at a good price as well and is good insurance in case Welker goes on PUP. I don't see him going anywhere either.

2nd day of camp and we're talking cuts already?

a billion things can happen before the opening day kickoff....any different set of circumstances can affect the status of these projected cuts as well as any others...but by all means, continue this "if fish carried luggage who would know?" discussion. It definitely reveals a lot of prejudicial fan thinking.

That's what I thought as soon as I read that :) Really isn't a surprise if he is cut! But is if he makes it!

The only one of those who would be a surprise is Maroney who is young, cheap, and also has shown the ability to be a very good KR.

Crable and Wheatley are clearly on the bubble and should surprise no one if they get cut. Holt and Taylor are near the end of the line and it wouldn't be surprising if BB decides one doesn't have anything left.

No mention of sammy Morris. but lets be honest, if either of the aging RB crew were cut(St. Kevin excluded) I don't think anyone would be surprised.

Maroney is not the back we were hoping he would be and probably never will. Faulk is our best back bar none. He never gets hurt and is always making plays when he gets the ball. Morris and Taylor are good but hurt too often, Maroney gets tackled for a loss almost 50% of the time he touches the ball and Law Firm will probably never get a full chance to shine, although I really dont expect much from him anyways. He is what he is though. I hope crable will have a break out year cause he seems to have the skills but who knows if he'll make it out of TC without breaking a shin. Holt will probably stay since I doubt he'll turn out to be like Galloway.

Maroney getting cut would be a big surprise.

Crable's been injured and I personally don't expect him to make the team because of injuries (again). Wheatley fell out of favor last year so him getting cut wouldn't surprise me either. Both Taylor and Holt are getting up there in age so them getting cut wouldn't be the biggest shock.

I would be the first to agree that the running attack wasn't great, but "anemic and pointless". That's a bit hyperbolic, don't you think. IIRC, didn't it rank 11th overall in the NFL. Does that mean there were 21 other NFL teams with running attacks even more "anemic and pointles"?

As to Felger, Breer, and the other guy, those are trips that couldn't beat a pair. But then again they have 30 minutes to fill every night, so insipid comments should be expected.

Wheatley and Crable yes very possible, Holt and Taylor doubt it. I mean Joey freakin Galloway made the roster last year not to mention with two rooks at TE they will need experienced pass catchers on the roster no way Holt gets cut. As for Taylor there just are not many options at rb that make all warm and fuzzy so I say he makes it. I kind of like the guy but a surprise cut could be Sanders if Chung shows improvement it might be tough, I know sanders kind of claimed the the starter spot at the end of the season over mcgowan but it seemed to me anyway that that was done to shake things up as they were getting burnt deep over the middle quite at bit at that point. With so many 1st and 2nd year guys this should be one of the more interesting camps in some time. Bring it on.

This is probably the dumbest prediction I've ever heard.

If BB actually thinks Taylor, Morris, and BJGE are sufficient then he's really lost his marbles.
