Re: LB Spikes Under Contract

Awesome! I almost feel guilty rooting for Spikes over McKenzie given McKenzie's history and character. But going back to last year I wanted Spikes in NE and was dissapointed that he went back for his Sr year. As it turned it out everything worked out.

I'm shocked if he doesn't start week 1.

Same here. The middle LB corps is set for a long time. Now about the OLB corps....

Here's to hoping Cunningham will be starting week 1 as well...:eat3:

Re: LB Spikes Under Contract

Excellent! Is McCourty under contract yet? have been away for a bit here.

Not yet, but apparently they're just waiting on some comparables, since Dez is the only signed first rounder. I don't like it--I want him in camp--but he's in the same boat as 30 other first rounders, so can't complain too much.

But he isnt in the same boat as 11 other Patriots rookies, so that needs to change.

This sucks. Now I can't run a "Will Spikes hold out? Poll..... hmmmmm.....

I don't think rooting for Spikes to start is such a bad thing: there's plenty of room for both of them to be solid contributors, and to make their mark this season in establishing what could be long and productive careers for both of them. You could easily just be rooting for both of them to succeed, while acknowledging that Spikes has a leg up :p.

Great News, I Likes Spikes.....

This has the potential for an outstanding ILB rotation... not to mention depth.

Spikes and Mac will rotate in and out depending on the opponent and down. Spikes is probably better against the run and may serve in the Steve DeOssie roll as the guy who takes on the guard so the other LBs can make the play. In any case he will add the ferocity that the Patriots defense has missed recently. The Gators will be snapping come opening day.

Moving Gary Guyton to Will or even OLB is going to be a great thing. I don't think this guy got enough credit for having to be the Mike signal caller after Mayo went down in the first quarter of the first game just his second year after being an undrafted rookie.

Let this guy with his speed be a piece of the puzzle and let him fly.

Yayyy! :) Just McCourty now and we are sorted :D

Yes! This guy is going to tear up the opposing offensive line this year. A couple on INT's won't hurt either.
