Quasi OT: Changes to Sunday Ticket

Dude, you just saved me $120.00. You have to go to the second level representative ( one who handles cancellations)
to get the discount.....

I cancelled the football package last season b/c it was priced too high. I would be interested in it for $180 though.

Any specific ideas on how I can maneuver myself to get that offer now that I am not a returning customer. For what its worth, I had the package from 1997 - 2008. I figured they should have tried harder to keep me.

Just be polite and ask. Remember that they don't owe you anything. You could start by asking, if there are any promotions for sunday ticket. Say you've been a long subscriber. If it doesn't work, just thank them and try again the next day. Usually and eventually, someone will do it for you. Tell them you cancelled it before because you couldn't afford it and you are hoping that they have some promotions. Don't rush into it. I have heard that some reps call you back after you've expressed interest. All the best. Hope you get it. :)

WORD OF NOTE:

For those who have or are getting DirectTV Sunday Ticket

While Directtv is combining the Sunday Ticket with Superfan this year for one price, what they are not telling you is that you must pay an additional $10 a month for a new subscription they are calling "Sunday Ticket To Go"

That means if you wish at any time to watch the games on your laptop,IPhone,iPod Touch ect: you will not get the broadcast unless you are subscribed to the To Go package for an additional
$50 this season.

Please be aware of this...

Shoot, Ken in South Dakota didn't take the bait but I did learn something. I've been thinking I pay $250 for the last several years and it's actually $300. Yeah I got to get that down somehow. Even mentioned my baseball package is only $190 but nope he wasn't hearing any of it. He was ready to tranfer me over to the cancealltion department when I bailed. Guess I have to try again. I'm going to wait til the beginning of next week to see if they have someone call me back with an offer. If not I'll have to come up with a diffirent strategy.

Larryo...talk to the cancellation dept. they'll be the ones who will give you the offer if the 1st rep doesnt. I was fully prepared to talk to the cancellation dept but I guess I got lucky and the CSR offered the discount. Try again tomorrow...or even now. You'll be probably get someone different than you just talked to

oh and BIG ups to nabwong for the tip :)

I was just originally going to call and just cancel the to-go package

No problem. Just sharing the patriots love.

Btw, here's an extra tip. If you have a good friend or relative, you can just ask the person to pay for the "mobile superfan" so that person can watch it on her/his pc. That person must log in ( your login name and password ) to view it. So If you spend $50 more, you technically have 2 people watching ( TV and PC ). I don't promote any other unethical ways of "selling" the mobile package.

Nab :)

Yeah, the HD (Superfan) is integrated into sunday ticket. The Mobile is separate; $10 a month or something like that.

Glad you all are getting the discounts. Kindly deposit $10 into my paypal account... just kidding... :p

Do you guys know if we get all pre-season games on sunday ticket? The pats play thursday right?

Preseason games are NOT on Sunday Ticket. They are all aired on NFL-N however. Most of them will be tape delayed. Check the NFL-N site for dates and air times.

Are you allowed to pay $30 a month and cancel say on December 31, paying only $120?

NO, they don't let you cancel after week 1 maybe 2.

Thanks a ton. Just got off the phone. I'm in. $30 a month instead of $50 a month. WICKED AWESOME! Now I can realax knowing I'll be able to watch every Pats game(a lot cheaper) no matter what clunker the local channels are showing.

I got mine! :D

I was all prepared to call more than once, but the first guy I talked to offered me the discount.

As I mentioned above, I was very seriously considering not doing it this year, even if it meant not seeing every Pats game. Now I don't have to worry about it. Yay! :rocker:

that reminds me I've got to call and cancel to "to-go" package. additional $10/month to be able to watch on my computer or cell phone? no thanks.

I think of the $10/ month as insurance in case it snows on my dish on the roof. I can watch the games on the computer.

Good point. But you can always add it later. Save you $20 for sept and oct.

This is only my second season of the Sunday Ticket,Last year they gave me $10 off a month with FREE Superfan and a few bucks off of HD

Last night I did a little old BS with being very polite and asking for a deal and they gave me the ticket for just $29 a month with free To Go subscription making it only about $180 instead of over $300!!

Be polite, say a few things nice like asking the service Rep whose his/her favorite team is (even if its the Jets just say "thats cool", ask them hows the weather where they are at ect:and you will get what you want...trust me (based on your payment history and if it is prompt then you are guaranteed a big discount like me) I didn't even have to try hard to get a reduced amount.

I jut got my DirectTV bill and ouch and yeah...

The ouch is Sunday Ticket is $300, (6 payments of $49.99 (which my WHRHS degree says adds up to $299.94)).

The yeah is that they have done away with the Superfan and just incorporated everything into the Sunday Ticket, so you get all the games (in HD), the Redzone channel, the game mix, and the short cuts (games condensed down into 30 minutes (just the plays no huddles or commericals).

I'm considered in both the Falcons and Jags home markets, so I'm subject to the Jags blackouts, and I would most likely have a bar bill over the $300 if I had to go out to watch the games, so I stickin, but that's alot of cake, I wonder if they are going to lose subscribers?

It's actually a REDUCTION of $50 if you used to pay for Superfan since Sunday Ticket was $250 and the SuperFan was 99..

Man I feel sorry for some of you. Money was pretty low, and through a wonderful connection I'm paying $160 for everything.

It depends on how long you have been a Directtv member to how much you pay although I was an apparent exception since I have been with them only slightly over a year
