In honor of Brad Childress heading down to Kilne, MS to beg Favre to come back and play another year eventhough everyone knows he is coming back anyway, I bring you the quote of Bus Cook, his agent, from Men's Journal where he throws Brett under the Bus (no pun intended):

“Brett talked to goddamned Ed Werder at ESPN, says he needs ankle surgery. Now why did he do that? I’ve got Childress calling. I’ve got reporterscalling all damn morning. Goddammit, why does he have to be such a goddamned drama queen? Play, don’t play, goddamn, people are getting sick of it. I’m getting sick of it! Why does he have to talk to these people? What good does it do? Ed Werder at ESPN! What’s he ever done for anybody other than say, ‘Look, look, Mommy, I got this first, ain’t I special?’ You got problems with surgery, talk to your wife. Why talk to goddamned Ed Werder?”

In the August 2010 Issue: Brett Favre|Men’s Journal

When your own agent think you are an attention seeking drama queen, you have gone too far.

Great news. Maybe this will distract them from the "Brady Holdout" story!

I can't stop laughing. I'm gonna pick up Men's Journal when I go out... I figured out what Brett needs to do to have a life after football. Reality TV. You couldn't script it any better...

It’s not quite 10AM, and the hamlet of Hattiesburg is already blowing things up. He has walked the grounds of his Monticello-on-the-Mayberry spread in Mississippi and dispatched two possums with his shotgun. “They were acting weird,” he reasoned. “Maybe they had ray-bees.” That was productive.

A giant white pickup truck rumbles into the parking lot. The driver gingerly steps down from his perch. Cook looks out the window. He mulishly paws the rug with his sneakers.

“Goddamn, there’s Brett. This is going to be interesting.”

The silver-haired Favre is dressed in shorts and a sleeveless T-shirt, looking simultaneously like a kid and the grandpa he has just become. As he comes in the front door, his ruddy face breaks into a sheepish grin, one he’s flashed a thousand times, chinstrap undone, at head coaches after throwing across his body into double coverage. “Hey, Bus,” says Favre.

He speaks slowly, a boy trying to delay a spanking.

“I guess I screwed up. I didn’t think it was a big deal. I just told him that I might need surgery. He made it into a big thing.”

Bus stares him down, but his face crumples into an exasperated grin.

“Jesus, Brett. You never learn.

The ankle surgery kerfuffle — getting the procedure done, the speculation goes, may indicate he’s coming back — is just the latest production number in year three of “Will He or Won’t He Play,” Favre’s one-man show. At this point everyone is counting ceiling tiles and looking at their watches.

This has been going on for more than three years, I can assure you of that. He was waffling in the offseason for at least three to four years before 2008 when he "retired."

Word is he wants to come back so he can beat NO in the season opener. If he plays in that game I'll buy a Saints jersey and wear it all weekend. (If my wife will let me buy any more jerseys, that is.)

meh. we all knew it was coming. and it's not nearly as bad as it has been the past 2 years

Just you wait. the media whores will soon be on the Favre 24/7 channel and we'll never be rid of the damned guy. Brett is the human athlete's foot virus. Just when you think he's been gotten rid of, here he comes again making everyone uncomfortable.

I hate him with a passion even more fiery than seeing Desmond Howard return the kickoff for a touchdown in '96.

Favre needs to just go away. He is an embarrassment to the NFL right now.

There's a reason I call it the

Re: OT: Brett Favre Narcissism Tour 2010 Has begun

Just thought of something else...

As irritating as the LeBron "Decision" thing was, I'll say this for the guy - at least he's not going to come back in a month and say, "Actually you know what? I think I do want to still play in Cleveland."

One thing Favre does better than any QB in history, it's self-promotion. He will play as long as his body allows him to play. It's painfully obvious. Favre might be around another 3 years, pulling the same schtick in 2012.

Favre, with his annual public waffling, has managed to keep everybody on "Favre's last year" watch since 2003. People keep buying into it, and the result is that his regular season accomplishments get magnified and his legend gets overblown. Yes, he's the NFL ironman and the classic "gunslinger", but he's also the Atlanta Braves of football. He won it once when he was young, but since then seems to lose more dramatically the closer he gets to winning #2.

My prediction..... he'll show up at Winterpark in Eden Prairie, MN on August 18th.

You Fave critics simply don't understand his motivation. Brett is simply seting himself up for a post-football career as a drama queen on Broadway.

I think I am the only poster that enjoys Favre-apalooza.

...and I also enjoy watching him play. Man, as Irvin said they would be dragging me white knuckles off the field if that was my job...

but yeah, the issue here is the drama. That's just what you are going to get with Favre...may as well accept it...:confused2:

I actually can't wait for him to retire - and I mean retire, not come back a month later!

He was a great player, but just gets on my nerves now!

I have followed Lord Favre's retirement drama since back in 2003 when i was in college. That is when i started hating him. I can't believe he has done this for almost a decade now, that's incredible.

I had a friend the other day make a comment about Lebron comparing him to Favre and I had to explain to him how he has a long way to go before he is that bad.

Favre would have held his "decision" on National TV, and then when everyone was ready he would have came out in his tapered wranglers and said that he has no idea why they are all there for any kind of announcement and say that he has not made his decision yet.

I still remember when Favre did that (1,2 or 3 yrs ago) and actually scheduled a press conference and then basically told everyone to piss off when he finally spoke and tried to express confusion as to why they showed up to a press conference that he scheduled. its just unreal. he is sick in the head.

I disagree with that. I think he has destroyed his image. Five years ago, I viewed the guy as a tough as nails competitor who was an average guy who you probably could have a few beers with at the local bar. Now I view the guy as a narcissistic primadonna who puts himself on a pedistal above everyone else. That isn't good at self-promotion.

What Favre is better at than any other QB in history is creating a spectavcle of himself.

Not to get off-track but having a few beers is what almost derailed his career before it started. ;)

I don't get why he can't just cut to the chase and say "I'm coming back, but not showing up to camp until later". I'd understand that, since he can still play but he's old and probably doesn't need much camp to get ready. But no, he has to drag this out even though we all know damn well that he's going to play.

Come out and say that and risk criticism from the media and piss off his teammates who actually show up despite already having their starting jobs as well?
