I think it's all very interesting ro see how the discussion ended up...and to see what the issues were with players...(Deaderick, Green-Ellis,Wheatley) teh groupings..(hardest maybe OL,DL,RB...) and seeing what the REAL issues are with the team when the time comes....
Of course the discussion negates possible injuries..so it's the BEST CASE scenarios..as opposed to usually what happens with 4-5 issues of injury...Ohrenberger is an odd one..PUP with no large injury..I do think others may be PUPed..ebsides Welker...and I DO think that will depend on other factors
Will they bring in any other players as surprises?? THAT was not something mentioned...but I could see a QB..or maybe a RB or TE..
Ian..maybe u or someone could summarize what the issues were so they could be looked back on in a few weeks...

I agree that there are much better uses of roster spots than a 7th DL and an 8th DL.

I agree that a 9th OL is the best use of one of the roster spots.

I believe that a 6th corner is the next best use of the other spot.

I think Larsen will beat out Ohrnberger for the 5th/developmental interior line position.

If a position develops for awhile (say with Welker on the PUP), I would add Slater (or even Murrell or Lockett).

Having 8 OL (5 spots) in order to keep 8 DL (3 spots) seems crazy to me.
I'm not comfortable saying a guy on the practice squad is the same as on the roster.

I was planning on that - so you'll something on that in the days leading up to the start of camp.

I agree with both, but for different reasons with the first statement. I think that the quality of players comes into question. If we had better DLinesmen and weak Olinesmen, then I would have no problem with 8 and 8. However, we have a LOT of quality Olinesmen and the Dline depth is not so hot, so I and fine with 9 and 7, and 10 and 6 would not cause me heartache.

Not because of the numbers but because of the quality of player being kept vs being cut.

As far as practice squad goes, never assume a guy will be there if you need him, and do not plan on stashing a guy. You cut put a guy on PS - you cut him. Then, if no one wants him, you can sign him to the PS.

That means if there is someone good you want to stash, he is a candidate for being claimed. Most PSers are just that, and no one will claim them, but a good guy has a better chance of being gone.

When reaching the 53, if you don't include guys like Deaderick and Larson, assume they are gone, not on the PS. If aren't willing to cut ties permantently, you need to find a place on the 53.
I do not believe that NFL teams and BB in particular put any credence in 'stashing' players.

Maybe, maybe not.

Then again, perhaps we can revisit the history between BB and Brad Childress.
