He only has 3 more yrs on his contract lol.

but the thing is he plays for 1 million this year and then makes 20Million on the following 2.

Bad agent lol

Well, since Revis is undoubtedly the greatest player in the history of any sport and arguably one of the finest sentient beings in the history of the entire universe, he should be paid accordingly.

$50 million per year with $200 million guaranteed would be an accurate reflection of Revis' previously umimaginable stature and also a generous hometown discount for the soon-to-be financially beleaguered PSL jets.

Maybe he and Mankins can hang out together, compare notes, and cry in their beer.

Are you making these numbers up? Does he get $20M next season even if there's a lockout? If so, the Jest must really be in some serious financial hell right now.

You would think re-structuring to give him a lot more of that money up front this year would be enough to keep a guy like him happy.

Nope , his contract was a true 4 yr contract with a 2yr 20 million option at the end. The agent figured that by offerring a 1 yr at 1 million on the 4th yr he got a 4 yr contract .

why would i lie?

They are really turning into a mess. I actually am starting to feel sorry for them. Even if, by a miracle, they win the superbowl this year, the lack of financial discipline and acumen is going to push them right back to square one, next season and the season beyond.

Jets homers are every bit as bad as Patriots homers, but only half as smart:

This one was especially amusing, given how much it mirrors the homer lines here when Patriots players dare to be displeased by contract offers.

...At this point Revis is a great corner, but Tanny will not pay you what your asking for. He's losing the war with the Jets and he's losing support from the fanbase. He's going to end up getting traded to a crappy team that won't use him correctly, then you will get your payday, Revis hope you will be happy then, especially if we win a SB without you.

Revis can be replaced, we have Cro and Wilson already if we add another stud CB via draft by trading him for 1st rounders I'm all in for it. This fight is bigger then Revis and his douche bag agent, the previous players under this agent have fought the war and all of them lost, what makes Revis different.

I'm sick of his *****ing, he's worse then Latrell Sprewell at the end of his career with the Twolves. He could learn a few things from Brick.

Pure. Comedy. Gold.

Every fanbase has their share of idiots. Forget 'homers'. This place has them too.

As far as Revis' holdout goes, he simply can't.

He loses the guarantee of the $5 million buyback option next season and the $15 million buyback option in 2012. He's achieved the level of play and amount of snaps necessary to acrue both totals.

If he holds out for the full year, he loses a season of eligibility. Therefore, he wouldn't be a FA until after the 2013 season.

Keep chomping at the bit that you won't have to see Revis this season.

He'll be there.

Keep hoping he dogs it if he does show up. He can't.

There's too much money at stake.

There are idiots everywhere. The Jets' fan base just happens to be better stocked with them.

You misunderstand the utility of a top player holding out. This isn't the backup center here. It's the cornerstone of the defense.

With the CBA in flux, this is just your guess. I'm not saying that you're wrong, just that it's an unknown.

I don't care whether he's "there" or not, so I don't know where you're getting the "chomping at the bit" stuff.

As for him dogging it, though.... of course he can. He can dog it all throughout training camp, as long as he doesn't do something stupid the way that Marshall did out in Denver last year. The money will still be there for him in the future.

Good one.

It's great. The Jets either have to cripple their salary cap in years going forward with a monster they created themselves, or they lose a guy that is, by far, the best player at ANY position on their defense. All of this is happening before training camp even starts. I can't wait to watch the circus that is Hard Knocks.

And you know, there are gifted writers for TV and Film companies that can't produce as good material as the JETS do just by being themselves. :lol2:

It is not an unknown that as a player under contract if he doesn't show up within the first two weeks of TC under an expiring CBA he will not receive credit for a year of service and he will remain stuck on 3 years even if he plays all of 2010. There is no way the owners are going to agree to UFA after three seasons. They negotiated to up it to 6 seasons for the uncapped year, and there it will remain until the union bargains away something else of value for each year they shorten it by. My guess is it reverts where it used to be at 4 at best/worst... and that becomes the max deal for rookies under a capped rookie contract system. If that happens and Revis has held out of TC beyond the deadline for players under contract to report this season, he will remain stuck on 3 years of service at least through 2011 (or 2012 if there is a lockout).

Marshall's deal with Miami isn't nearly what it would have been had he not become a problem child in Denver. Florio debunked that deal too. He's only guaranteed $12.5M with a $3M offset if he's cut and some other team picks him up for that amount or more...and similar unreachable ST escalators and some recoverability language in the event of suspensons. Not everyone is a foolish as Dan Snyder, and there are potential consequences for your prior actions even if you're a mega talented athlete.

Revis can hold his breath until he turns blue but his deal is one of the worst rookie deals on the books in terms of circumventing the 30% rule. The only way around it would be to rip up the deal altogether and do a new deal with a huge signing bonus on the eve of a potential work stoppage and then watch the top of Mangold's head explode unless he gets the same treatment.

HBO are doing back flips that the Jets agreed to do Hard Knocks.

3...2...1...

REVIS SUCKS

He doesn't but I thought I would post it for Jest fans ;)

It is just Hialrious what these players do if it is true that its a million this year then jumps to 20 million hell even ifi t jumps to 10 million why not just play the year out hten get the money. I guess in todays i need it now world thats what they are thinking.

or maybe he took lessons from cromatie and needs money for child support

What was the term I heard on PatsCast? It's something about how players win a championship and then want to be paid accordingly. The problem is that the Jets were a 7-7 team that was handed two wins to make the playoffs, and they still expect to be paid like the best ever.

I did send Revis a tweet a while ago telling him that he was worth more than whatever they were offering him, though :lol2:

Revis Island takes on a new meaning :)
