$50 million per year with $200 million guaranteed would be an accurate reflection of Revis' previously umimaginable stature and also a generous hometown discount for the soon-to-be financially beleaguered PSL jets.

Nope , his contract was a true 4 yr contract with a 2yr 20 million option at the end. The agent figured that by offerring a 1 yr at 1 million on the 4th yr he got a 4 yr contract .

...At this point Revis is a great corner, but Tanny will not pay you what your asking for. He's losing the war with the Jets and he's losing support from the fanbase. He's going to end up getting traded to a crappy team that won't use him correctly, then you will get your payday, Revis hope you will be happy then, especially if we win a SB without you.

Revis can be replaced, we have Cro and Wilson already if we add another stud CB via draft by trading him for 1st rounders I'm all in for it. If he holds out for the full year, he loses a season of eligibility. Therefore, he wouldn't be a FA until after the 2013 season.

It is not an unknown that as a player under contract if he doesn't show up within the first two weeks of TC under an expiring CBA he will not receive credit for a year of service and he will remain stuck on 3 years even if he plays all of 2010. There is no way the owners are going to agree to UFA after three seasons. They negotiated to up it to 6 seasons for the uncapped year, and there it will remain until the union bargains away something else of value for each year they shorten it by. My guess is it reverts where it used to be at 4 at best/worst... and that becomes the max deal for rookies under a capped rookie contract system. If that happens and Revis has held out of TC beyond the deadline for players under contract to report this season, he will remain stuck on 3 years of service at least through 2011 (or 2012 if there is a lockout).

Marshall's deal with Miami isn't nearly what it would have been had he not become a problem child in Denver. Florio debunked that deal too. He's only guaranteed $12.5M with a $3M offset if he's cut and some other team picks him up for that amount or more...and similar unreachable ST escalators and some recoverability language in the event of suspensons. Not everyone is a foolish as Dan Snyder, and there are potential consequences for your prior actions even if you're a mega talented athlete.

Revis can hold his breath until he turns blue but his deal is one of the worst rookie deals on the books in terms of circumventing the 30% rule. The only way around it would be to rip up the deal altogether and do a new deal with a huge signing bonus on the eve of a potential work stoppage and then watch the top of Mangold's head explode unless he gets the same treatment.

What was the term I heard on PatsCast? It's something about how players win a championship and then want to be paid accordingly. The problem is that the Jets were a 7-7 team that was handed two wins to make the playoffs, and they still expect to be paid like the best ever.

I did send Revis a tweet a while ago telling him that he was worth more than whatever they were offering him, though :lol2:
