Here's an interesting article in today's Miami Herald with an in-depth look at the Dolphins:

Insiders weigh in on Dolphins before camp, Heat in free agency - Sports Buzz - MiamiHerald.com

Interesting quote regarding their linebackers:

"They're very weak at outside linebacker -- that group is in the bottom third of the league,'' Williamson said. "Cameron Wake is still a liability with the run. Koa Misi has upside, but rarely do you see 3-4 conversion guys come in and light it up. I would have kept Jason Taylor.''

Ten years ago there were only three teams running a 3-4 defense; now there are fifteen. With so many teams switching to a 3-4, perhaps that is resulting in fewer and fewer quality 3-4 outside linebackers being available, which is a key position in this defense.

Interesting article. It will be right interesting to see how Miami's offense performs this year. Even with Brandon Marshall, they will have connection issues with Chad Henne. As the article pointed out, he gets "target fixation" and not only tries to force the ball into dangerous places, but also telegraphs his actions.

And folks who complain about Maroney and injuries ought to take a good look at Ronnie Brown's history too.

Miami is still a work in progress. Interestingly, though, their own hunger might well make them a better team than the narcissistic Jets.

Sir, you opened my eyes.

Ronnie Brown since 05 has played 16 games in ONE season, 2008. He has NEVER started for a full 16 game season.

Also, it's puzzling how he is sooo injury riddled considered he has shared the load his whole career. Looking at his numbers, he doesn't have carry the load numbers which I realize is because of the system/running with Williams. Still, it puzzles me how a guy who has not carried much of a load is hurt so often. He's injury riddled, period. 5 seasons, and the numbers are pretty consistent. Only one season has he been fully healthy. Not overrated, just injury prone.

It puzzles me how Henne is considered a sure thing at QB. But hey, we heard Culpepper was too.

Their defense has more questions than ours, and that's the only thing really holding us down.

I actually don't hate the Dolphins and if we don't represent the AFC in the Super Bowl, I wouldn't be totally pissed off to see it be them.

With that being said, they have the potential to REALLY suck this year. A questionable defense and a VERY questionable offense. I mean seriously, Chad Henne could be a total bust this year and they still don't have a #2 after Marshall that scares me. I think they have a better chance of going 1-15 again than making the Playoffs.

I think the Dolphins will miss the playoffs, but they will still come in 2nd in the division behind the Pats.

Aside from Brown and Maroney, it's interesting to see what running backs taken early in drafts from those years have done. Maroney may not have accomplished all that Pat fans would have liked, but there are many others that have done much less.
