ESPN Mag says Ryan is better than BB

Again........
based on feedback from fans.

Your not honestly sitting there thinking this was a legit survey are you.....there is no way a legitimate sampling of fans would come to these conclusions. There is quite obviously a manipulating of the sample or data to come to these conclusions. Maybe the survey was only done on the streets of new york near a big rex ryan sign or something.

Oh I get it. Ryan is better than BB in a eating contest. :singing:

I refuse to pay money to ESPN, so I can't actually read the article on which the story is based, but, as someone else has pointed out, it is based on "feedback from fans."

I don't know what's more pathetic: the original story or our wasting time on it. Close call.

When you let fans vote, New York and L.A. will be in position to dominate.

I would think North Dakota would be somewhere in the Top 3.

BB's resume actually puts him in a discussion with Lombardi. Putting Rex Ryan in Bud Grants class is a ridiculous stretcht though. Ryan will have to have about 10 straight years BETTER than his 7-7+2 gift seasons to be in the same sentence as Grant.
I think **** Nolan or George Wilson would have been a better example.

I was just trying to think of someone quick, and I don't know a lot about that era (before I was born ;) ). Actually my first thought was Hank Stram but that would be way off since he won one. I figured Grant would be a decent comparison since he got to an SB.

Even after a nights sleep, I am still laughing at this!

Huh, I didn't realize the clown network still had a magazine. Obviously an intellectually weighty tome....... :D

well, it's dealing with a weighty subject! ;)

Why? As much as Jet fans want to make it seem like they did, Ryan did not get to a SB/ That was my point you can pick a successful comparison. At this point Ryan hasnt reached Wade Phillips or Lovie Smith level.

Jeez people! Look, I was trying to make a comparison. When I thought of Lombardi, I tried to think of guys who had success in the years right after Lombardi won his last championship. The only two guys that came to mind were Hank Stram and Bud Grant. I don't know a lot about that era so I couldn't tell you who who the coaches were that lost the AFL and NFL championship games in their first season as HC within five years after Lombardi won Super Bowl II.

Tell you what, in the future before making any reference to league history I will consult the NFL Total Football book to make sure everything is 100% exact. Sheesh.

Relax. The entire point was that Ryan has accomplished nothing yet, and I was just pointing out that you were comparing him to a guy who was very successful. Your response that Grant made it to a SB implied, still, that Ryan was being given credit for accomplishing something.
I'm not trying to give you a hard time, just saying we are talking about a 7-7 coach who was given a gift playoff spot, and your response that you choose Grant as a comparison because at least he made a SB, struck a cord as overrated Ryan again.

Belichick has three Super Bowl rings.

BB has 5 Super Bowl rings. Perhaps the other 2 don't mean much to you, but I think they're significant.

Fat boy is on Manginas level, they both did well their first year i think Mangina was 10-6 and Fat Boy lucked into the play offs were no one took the rats seriously. So where is mangina ranked?

Because it's a ranking based upon feedback from the fans.

see this is what I dont get. Who the hell cares what it is claimed to be based on. ESPN did the poll and ESPN gets the hits from the poll they knew what they were doing and manipulated the line of questions, the smaple used, and/or the actual responses to get what they wanted.

I could do a poll with monkeys and still get the results I want.

Have the monkey stand on one side of the room.....bring in two boxes one labled A and one B...........ask him a series of questions and them ask him to answer by chosing either box A or B.

Who is a better coach A rex or B Bill? Ans A

Who is the better team A the Jets or B Pats? ans A

Who has the better QB A the Jets or B the Pats? Ans A

oh by the way I put a Banana under box A.
