I have heard that the patriots are replacing the video boards at the Stadium.

Did the Pats decide to raise the video boards by 20 or 30 feet and install some more seats in the available vacated space?

One of the long range detriments the Pats face is that their stadium Gillette is by far the smallest in the AFCE. Now that the rules on sharing funds have been modified so that private boxes are now shared, there is little benefit for those corporate boxes, unlike before. Similarly, other sources of income have now been shared. So the only real benefit in differentiating revenues now, is how many game tickets you can sell.

Capacity is 68,750 at Gillette, 73,000+ at Bills stadium, 75,000+ at Miami's stadium, and now 82,000+ for the NewYork Giants Stadium that the Nieu Joisey Jest also will use. So revenues for it opponents will vary from additional 5,000 tickets to as much as 14,000 tickets for 10 games a season. That allows them milliions more in revenues to be potentially more competitive in bidding for players, coaches, scouting, facilities, et cetera.

You seem to know what you are talking about so I am not arguing but I thought Ticket sales were part of revenue sharing???

I am however right down the street from the stadium so I do tend to know about things going on there and I am fairly certain there is no plans to move the Jumbos up and Add seats. Honestly there are better places to add seats if they were to so chose.

There is TONS of room in Gillette for seat expansion if the Krafts so choose. There's the big open area in the north end zone for instance, plus the four skylight spaces at mezzanine level. Between all that I'd bet they could add 10,000 seats.

No, that is not happening. I don't know what you mean by the "vacated space;" there is a walkway underneath each videoboard which would have to be raised as well, nevermind the horizontal space that would be taken up by adding more rows. That would be a major, major operation.

Of course the skylights are there on purpose, but I highly doubt it has anything to do with obstructing anyone's view from above or keeping people out of the club sections. The skylight areas are there for aesthetic purposes, primarily to give the concourse sunshine and an "open air" feel. The Krafts could put seats there if they so desired.

Have no fear...that $ making thing....well the Krafts have that figured out. Hope you can sleep easy tonight with this new information. The new video boards are not a gift from the heavens....they will generate more revenue that 30 feet 0f additional seats.

Your entire premise is horribly misguided. So a top row endzone in Buffalo generates the same $$ as one of the premium seats at Gillette? Right.

Gillette has one of the highest average ticket prices in the league, that makes a big difference. Plus, revenue sharing of local income isn't a complete levelling, it's not like TV where the entire amount is thrown into a pot and shared 32 ways. If you generate more local revenue than others you have to give a percentage of it away, but you still end up with more money than the others.

50/50 makes no sense, since the visiting team does not incur any of the considerable gameday expenses. On a number of seat argument you have a point, but seeing how Gillette is full for every game and buff is half empty miami rarley sells out and the jets may have problems selling out with all the high priced seats in the new stadium I can't see the pat's renovating the stadium at this point. There extra revenue is coming from patriot place and the fact they own most of the parking at the stadium.

So the Pats split the revenue for 10 games at 68,000. And the J-E-S-T split revenue for 10 games at 82,000, (or is it 88,000, in their new stadium)?

I know that Buffalo can't sell all its seats. That is why their stadium was downgraded to only 73,000 from 80,000, when they added Boxes and some "Red Seats". But they had no problem selling all 80,000, when Kelly and the Bills were in their Prime. They will do so again when they start winning.

Sorry if this has already been talked about, I did try searching.

Anyway, for the last 3 years my wife, buddy, and I have been going to Gillette Stadium for at least one game a season. So this year comes along and log to Ticketmaster and the ‘WTF’ing’ starts. Seem they have nerfed the SRO (standing room only) tickets. I can’t seem to find them anywhere (ebay, other ticket sites, craigslist…etc). Ticketmaster doesn’t have the option to search for SRO tics anymore either at Gillette, it’s only upper level, mid-level or lower lever. I called TM and asked what was up with that, the girl noticed that the SRO option was missing, but didn’t have an answer why. Does anyone know what the deal is? Did I miss something? :confused2: Hopefully I'm just blind and I'm overlooking something.
