Pats checking out RB Unga

Personally, I don't want us to carry five running backs. However, if we do, this guy could be a better prospect than Green-Ellis.

Well, Unga isn't your typical supplimental draft player. Most, like Unga leave school for disciplinary reasons, but Unga's violation was having sex with his fiancee and he voluntarily turned himself into BYU. He may be the first player to prove he is more honorable than most NFL players by leaving his school for breaking their rules.

I don't think BB would waste the draft pick if he didn't think the kid was a definite improvement over BJGE and a kid who was likely to supplant 1 or more of the current trio.

Agreed. He might also just be gathering more data on him for future use.

Is this where someone chimes in and asks, "can he pass rush"?

First, I'm glad that the Pats are doing their homework. Two, I'm afraid that they aren't sure about the running back situation going into 2010. Three, if he checks out with the scouts and there is room on the roster, why not?

Is he worth the projected third rounder that he would cost?

BYU star running back Harvey Unga withdraws from school, NFL next?

He had to leave school outright over sex. Same with his girlfriend. BYU is strict about their honor code, much stricter than most other religious schools.

Wow, as poorly as I did with girls in college I could have lasted at BYU for decades.

Looks like a good down hill runner, but I don't see us giving up a 3rd for him, maybe a later pick of a 5th or 6th.

Unga hits like a dump truck. I would hope that we take a look at him.

get real Kontra. We dont want to return to the good ole days of hard nosed power running. For that matter, im not sure i understand why we even have any RBs.
im sorry, did i already ask if this kid can rush the passer? :D

Really though, im all in favor of getting anybody to run the ball hard right up the middle, and run people over,,,,,,,,,,,I think TFB would be ok with that too.

Yeah, I liked what I saw on tape, and would be happy if they gave up a 5 or 6 for him. We do need a FB and goal line guy, and he seems to be the opposite of Maroney in some ways.

Anyone got an idea how Paschall is doing?
Has he a chance of making the 53?

Excuse me if I missed another thread on it.

He seems perfect for attacking the Colts defense, being a big, power, north-south runner that plays to that defense undersize weakness.

There might not have been 4th and 2 with Unga, I bet the pats would've gave him the ball on 3rd and 2.

I'm just sick of the pats throwing on 3rd and short, and the powerbacks we have are the oldest in the league.

A friend of mine was expelled from Brigham Young for having sex. Unfortunately, she can't rush the passer either ... :D

What i'm thinking is; What else are the scouts meant to be doing?
They will do their job & slip it into a folder for future reference.
