Early reports are he may be going to the Seahawks. I doubt SD would want to trade him to the Pats unless we paid a heavy price, and I'm sure the pats wouldn't want to give up a lot or pay him, as it seems they just don't like paying top dollar for top talent.

I think he's worth a 1st round pick and a contract close to what we are paying Moss now. Not many guys could step in and fill Randy's shoes, but I believe he's one of them.

I know he's got a few DUI's, but are there any Character concerns with Vjax? I can't remember there being any?

Ummmm .... yeah those "few DUI's" would qualify as character concerns.

sorry, I meant any other (as i noted the DUI's), in terms of a bad attitude etc...

Maybe the timing of his arrests that always seem to coincide with the week of a playoff game?

I've never heard anything else bad about him from other arrests to simply a bad attitude. Still, he has a serious drinking problem. That gives me enough concern not to invest a high draft pick and/or a large contract for him. He's likely to get suspended if anything else happens. And maybe this goes toward his attitude, but he was arrested for one of those DUIs just a few days before a playoff game and his blood-alcohol was a ridiculous 0.17. Maybe that shows he doesn't exactly have a passion for the game, but that's just a matter of opinion.

I think every WR in the league has been predicted to go to the seahawks at this point. VJ isn't going anywhere.

Good point. Big Vince is practically playing for vet minimum! I'm sure if they can't sign Brady to less than a $2 mil a year deal, they'll let him go, too. :bricks:

Can we dispense with the Pats Don't Pay nonsense, please. Wilfork was just made the highest paid at his position, Moss was a little while ago, Seymour got top dollar, and how about Thomas? Ty Law, too, and others I'm forgetting. No team likes to pay to pay top dollar, including the Pats. And exactly what team out there has a better working formula? Indy? NO. Baltimore, no. New Olreans? Not yet. The Jets? Spare me. SD? 0 Super Bowls. The Giants? A fluke. The closest to the Pat's would be Pittsburgh and guess what? They have a rep for supposedly not paying top dollar also.

:agree:
But really no one has...Stanback, but that's it.

Which was admittedly the nexus of LaCanfora's speculation on NFLN. And he didn't even predict it, he just predicted if he were to go that would be a natural guess as to a place he'd be likliest to go based on their need for and persuit of WR's this offseason.

And I wouldn't underestimate the fact that he's threatening to hold out this season and has refused to sign his tender as a "concern" that would limit interest in him joining this organization...

This year Edelman, Tate and Price should get every opportunity to prove themselves a viable starter opposite Welker. When you have this much potential at the position, bringing in a high priced, elite level player like Jackson is a panic move.

:ditto::agree:

Bob Kraft is not cheap...

According to PFT, the move of Jackson to the Seahawks would precipitate the release of Deion Branch. This could prove beneficial, except perhaps to Torry Holt.

Edelman, Tate and Price should get a chance? What is this 'little kickers' ?

Words like chances, fair don't mean anything in the NFL. It is a show me now, winning that is all that counts culture. Who cares about these JAGs? I am sure the Patriots don't care about their feelings or about being fair, at least I hope they don't.

Jackson is an elite WR and would immediately become the future of the Pats WR core. Trading for him and then negotiating a long-term deal may be easier than waiting for free agency in 2011.

Moss is likely gone after this year, why not stock up now.

I'd be pissed if we dumped Holt for Branch.

It's next year I'm concerned about.

Did I ever say they were wrong for not wanting to pay top dollar for top players? No I didn't. Vince isn't making anything close to Haynesworth, and I know I'll get killed for this, but I don't think Vince is the best DL or NT in the league, he's more like #5 or lower. And you know as well as I do that Brady has never been paid top dollar for his position.

Same here. Unless he finds the fountain of youth and returns to the form of 6 years ago, he is not a great investment.

As for Jackson, he isn't close to Moss in ability and shouldn't see anywhere near that type of salary, unless some team overpays him. He had a good year last year in terms of yards, but most of his yardage came in a handful of games against lousy teams. Last year he seemed to fix some of his difficulties with drops, but see if last year represents a fluke or a long-term change.

He is a good receiver now, but not a great one.

How would an injured player benefit our team?

In 10 years Holt has missed 3 games....total!

Branch has played in all 16 games just one time in his career.
