OT: Derrick Morgan arrested in Georgia

Well he DID get drafted by the Tits, so this shouldn't come as a suprise. An arrest on that team is sort of like an initiation into a gang.

Not a big deal.

Those aren't charges that would concern me. (I guess because I was arrested for the same. :) )

Indeed. Show up to court with proof that your license has been reinstated. Pay the ticket(s). Go grab some lunch on the way home.

Of course, the correct question is, will this tick off the Omissioner?

The good news for Morgan is that as a rookie he won't lose too much in salary if the Omissioner decides to suspend him for a game or four. . . .

thats it??...

TripleChump.... errr... champ... How hard would it be for you to get to work without being able to drive??

He's facing potential loss of licence permanently. Not to mention huge increases in his insurance premiums or potentially loss of insurance coverage. Many states now make it the law that you have to have insurance on your vehicle or you can be arrested and your car confiscated.

It also shows his immaturity and lack of intellect.

Things that BB looks for in players..

Oh god.

Brandon Merriweather had far more problems than this and if you did a little research about the laws in GA....
Suspended Georgia Driver's License, Ga driver's license suspension, georgia limited driving permit
License Suspensions and Revocations
Now me or you may have trouble getting around but a 1st round draft pick will have no problem getting to mini camp/training camp. And before you start with your little B*tch fit, I was never on the Morgan bandwagon because I thought he was to stiff to play in coverage.

I agree the actual arrest for driving on a suspended license is relatively minor and not a big deal at all. However if I was a Titans' fan or part of their staff, I might be concerned with his decision making. Driving 91 mph on a suspended license isn't exactly the most intelligent decision a person can make.

I'm suprised you were even able to collect your thoughts after that devestating cutdown.

He might not have known that his license was suspended.
I thought of that, but that's very unlikely. When you go to school and have two residences, you either come home periodically and get your mail then, have it forwarded to school, or ask someone at home to open up the mail to see what it says if it looks like it might be important. And even if indeed the letter got lost in mail, he still would have had to have done something to trigger the suspension (e.g., didn't pay a ticket, no insurance, etc.) - and therefore should have known there would be additional problems if he got pulled over.

Getting your license suspended without your knowledge happens quite frequently. I'm not saying that's the case with this kid, but it's not all that unusual in an era where states consider mailing something out to be enough to qualify as good service.

While that may be true, he still would have needed to have done something that would trigger the suspension. In that case, he should have had a reasonable expectation that there would be a problem if he was pulled over.

The 'I had no idea/I was never notified' excuse is truthful about as often as 'the check is in the mail' is.

Obviously there is a chance that Morgan had no idea, or there was no reason that he should have suspected there was a problem. However, I think that's very unlikely. There's a much higher probability that he either did know or should have known, in which case that shows poor judgement and decision making skills.

As someone who's prosecuted DWLS charges, I can tell you that there are many ways for you to end up with a suspended license without knowing about it.

My license was suspended without my knowledge for not paying an out of state speeding ticket that I was unaware of. I think I realized it a few months later when I went to renew my license. Luckily I wasn't pulled over or in an accident during that time. That was when I lived in RI.
