Celtic vs Rangers @ Fenway Park?

RIP Fenway, brace yourself for Football Hooliganism hitting the States people, this is the most violent rivalry in British football by some distance.


The historic stadium of baseball's Boston Red Sox could play host to a friendly between Celtic and Rangers.

Both Old Firm clubs have pencilled in pre-season tours of North America in the summer.

And Red Sox chief operating officer Sam Kennedy is in talks with a promotions company to play the game at the 37,402-capacity Fenway Park.

"We don't have anything confirmed but it's something we're trying to put together for July 21," he said.

Celtic are tentatively scheduled to play Manchester United in Toronto in July, while Rangers are believed to be arranging games in Miami and New York.

While neither club has commented officially on the proposed friendly, Kennedy said he hoped to make a formal announcement within the next two weeks.

Wont this mess up the baseball layout of Fenway? Fenway is an historical stadium but surely a more suitable venue would be Gilette?

Best and only way to fit it in is for the field to be set up 3rd base to center/right outfield same as it was when the Boston Breakers used it in the 60s...

Biggest issue is removing the pitchers mound and covering the infield dirt with grass, but that doesn't sound too hard to do considering that it is done out in Oakland and was done down in Washington until two years ago.

I was at the Celtic v Sporting Lisbon. Wasn't the best game of soccer but still was great to see the Bhoys at my beloved Fenway.

No. The only Celtic website I'm on is Celtic Quick News. It's probably one of the best sites out.
