Bill Belichick has the most career wins of al active NFL HCx.He also, of course , has the most playoff wins, SB appearances and SB Championship.
He is tied with Andy Reid for the best w/l % and number of winning seasons, but is behind Jeff Fisher in games and seasons coached.

I missed the suprise on this one?

I was surprised that BB has more wins than any active HC.

I wasn't. The only one who might have been able to compete was Tony Dungy, but he hasn't coached in 2008. Not really any suprises here.

Not really surprising considering he is the second longest tenured coach in the league...

BB is tied with Reid and Tom Coughlin in the number of years in the playoffs with eight years a piece, but leads Reid in the number of playoff games coached(20 to 18) in those eight seasons.

Dungy had 9 less wins in 32 less games but had 23 fewer losses and a higher .668 winning percentage. He had three more playoff seasons(11 to BB's 8) but one less playoff game(19 to BB's 20), six fewer playoff wins(9 to BB's 15), and five more playoff losses(10 to BB's 5), with a wining % in the playoffs of .474 to BB's .750

Had never thought about it, but it does make sense..

not a big suprise with Tony Dungy, Bill Parcells, Bill Cowher, all no longer coaching and Jeff Fisher, only haveing 6 winning seasons out of he's 16 years as the HC for the oilers/titans

I'm not surprised by this one. Most of the coaches who have enjoyed major success in the last couple decades have left the game.

I believe in the 2009 season the only active head coaches with Super Bowl rings were Tomlin, Coughlin, and BB. Shannahan and Payton will make it 5 for the 2010 season.

I'm not. Who has been coaching close to or over a decade of active coaches? By my count, it is 4 - Belichick, Andy Reid, Mike Shanahan, and Jeff Fisher. Fisher has had a number of bad seasons. So has Reid. Shanahan didn't have a great record pre or post Elway especially in the playoffs.

Some more Belichick trivia:

Since the advent of the salary cap, only one other NFL coach has won more than one Super Bowl (Mike Shanahan, with two.) Belichick leads all coaches, active or retired, with three of course.

Also since the beginning of the salary cap era, only three other coaches have won more than one conference championship. Shanahan and Bill Cowher have two, Mike Holmgren has three, and Belichick has four.

This doesn't surprise me at all.

The count is seven...Norv Turner(94-'00, '04-'05, '07-present) and Tom Coughlin('95-'02, '04-present) are both over a decade coaching and neither are gleeming in the post season or regular season overall either.
