Just saw Welker on NESN- they showed footage of him going through drills, and I was absolutely stunned. This guy was literally cutting on a dime, going through bag and cone drills- they showed him doing the sprint-back lateral shuffle. He was going over the agile bags like nothing had ever happened. This really floored me.

I hadn't really listened to anything here, but seeing him in action just drove it home for me. That guy is truly a freak. He is an aberration. He is not following the script.

I was going to temper my expectations because typically, recovery takes two years, the first being physical, and the second being mental/psychological.

But now everything is out the window. I honestly will be surprised if he doesn't start game one.

****s ridiculous.

My honest opinion is that no one really knows what happened to Welk. He is a Patriot remember and we don't really reveal injury details.
If he really tore his ACL, he is a freak. I tore mine 5years ago and my knee still sucks.

We still have not definitively proven that Welker isn't a Data-like android (with the emotion chip activated, of course). ;)

Wow, this guy is amazing. I really don't know what else to say after watching that.
Never thought that I would see him moving like that this early in his recovery.

While clicking thru the channels I saw this video and for a moment thought...why would they give #83 to someone else until I saw the brace and realized......and yes I shed a single tear!

One thing, he is rounding his cuts. He isn't making full cuts yet. It is still amazing that he is where he is, but he has a way to go before he is ready to play.

I feel the same way. For the most part he is running forward and rounding his cuts, perhaps are other shots of him cutting on a dime on lis left knee putting pressure on the same knee. However, overall is great to see him back on the field and able to run without any trouble.

I guess the only comment I would have now would be the Pats and Welker make sure he does not come back too soon. I would much rather have a 98%95%-100% Welker midway threw the season with no chance of reinjury (absent being hit) as opposed to a 75% Welker game 1 where there is a say 10% chance to reinjure the kneee by coming back too soon.

I think we all can get excited that he is coming back much sooner than we all expected, so that is good news. . .

Did he seem to be limping a little after the first drill to anyone else?

Or is that just his "I'm a B.A.M.F. walk?"

He is awesome, and this is baffling, but he still has a way to go to be what we want him to be.

My original thought was that Wes would be placed on PUP, just to give him some more time (and maybe give guys like Price / Patten more reps), but now, because every game is crucial (especially Week 2 vs NYJ), I'm wondering if he isn't activiated at the start of the season and BB just plays him cautiously. Even if Wes is out there for 10-15 snaps for the first few weeks, he'll make a difference (at the very least he'll draw defenders away from Moss/Tate/Holt).

That's brutal JFK. Dead 47 years and STILL hurting!

I too have moved from PUP to your position.

Wes Welker is a beast. Given where most people expected he would be with his recovery at this time, that was absolutely jaw dropping.

Anyone else feel that his injury and progress were purposely kept quiet so that people would continue to think that he could be gone for the season going into the draft? Would all that Dez Bryant speculation still have happened if people knew that Welkers injury wasn't as severe as everyone thought or that he was progressing amazingly well? BTW, my guess is that he wasn't hurt as we all thought. There is healing quickly and then there are miracles. I didn't think it was even possible for him to be doing this at this point.

He's doing a corner or slant, not a hitch or comeback. But I will consent to the fact that now is not the time to be doing hard cuts.

Sure, he is not doing hard cuts and he is limping a bit when he walks, but it is incredible that he has recovered this far this quickly. He still has all summer to get better. I have no doubt that he will be around for week 1 seeing his running on the video.

I still say this Welker injury is not as big as they are letting on. Since when does Belichick let the media know about injuries or how bad injuries are. All offseason we keep hearing u wont see Welker back intill week 8 at the earliest. How do u know that? No one thought they would see him at OTA's.

Cue The Duck Boats!!!:D:rocker::singing:
