The only part of that article worth its salt is the Mark Herzlich mention. Dived to intercept a Brady pass. Good to see he's playing again.

Ditto. Knowing the NCAA, they will probably give him grief for playing in a charity event.......

It seems like this Brady story isn't going to go away for awhile. You can tell it's the offseason, the media is trying to create some buzz...

True. This story somehow got NFL clumnist Breer on NFLN the other night. The comical part was when Eisen referred to him as the Patriots BEAT WRITER for the Herald and asked him if he was getting a lot of calls for Moss' cell phone number...no, that would be the actual beat reporter, Rappaport who broke that story...LOL

Mediots create these little tempests to keep each other gainfully occupied in the off season. Silver essentially made the off season for the NE football media... Otherwise they'd be left to speculate whether Moss is looking for attention or Welker is still gonna start out on PUP...neither of which are stories with national legs like a Brady contract disconnect.

Remember I am trying to warn you all about the MBWC (media brain washing consperacy) the only way to stay safe is come here daily read at least one thread even if it's a "chicken Little" thread cause this board does more research then the "journilists"

Wow.. talk about unbridled arrogance! Really assuming that we're that dumb!

Seems to me Patriots Nation has been far more unsettled with questions about the team's pass rush than Brady and his contract. It also seems that the ones talking the most about Brady's contract are fans of other teams, and media members both local (such as Felger) and national (the usual espn suspects) who are jumping on Silver's speculation and re-reporting it as fact in order to drive ratings by creating controversy. The only hand-wringing on the part of Patriots' fans has been in regards to the way the media has handled the topic.

I'm not unsettled at all.

Compared to last year when Tedy and Rodney retired, Vrabes and Cassel were traded to KC, Seymour was traded to the Raiders, and Brady was coming back from a knee injury, I am a lot more sanguine and relaxed. :p

Even the question of pass rushers and run softness are no longer worrying me. With a year of proven DE-->OLBs, TBC and Burgess, plus both high picks, Cunningham, and Crabel available, plus Nincovich, I think that question has been solved. It is only unproven as yet, IMHO, and the relaxed attitude Belichick seems to have, only confirms it to me.

As for the soft run Defense, I think BB more than cloberred the problem with his usual over-kill of vet AND draft. Before most fans even noticed the problem. He imported two former first round DLs, drafted a couple more, and expects a pair or trio of last years draftees to be better as sophomores, all to solve one vacated Seymour position.

Drafting a big SILB and getting another high draftee back, as well as a year of experience for young starter Guyton, can all help. Along with a year's experience for newcomer Strong Safeties, McGowan, and Chung.

Let me think about it and see if there are any other questions to worry about.

Thinking hard, I suppose I could be worried about the #2 WR position.

But with the usual over-kill approach of vet and draft, Belichick has more than addressed the position. He imported a future HOF WR, drafted a third round WR, gets back a high pick IRed, has last year's find Edelman back, as well as at last resorting to Aikens. Then he added three TEs to maybe provide a little TE pass catching as an option too.

Can I think of anything else to worry and panic about?

There's a long list of worries, but nothing that I can think of for the panic column.

Anybody who is paying attention understands that the Patriots are an ascending team. The only unsettled aspect of the team is how high is their ceiling.

The defense might get a little better and this version of the Patriots may peak as a perennial 11 win playoff team. That seems to be the floor.

Or, the defense gets a lot better and this version of the Patriots peaks as an elite team and perennial SB contender. That is the ceiling.

16-0, 11-5, 10-6 ..... I'm not sure how that meets the definition of ascending.

Think of hills and roller coasters they go up they go down they were Decending after 16-0 with losing the vets and bradys injury they are Acending now with a devolping young core and Bradys full recovery

The 16-0/18-1 Patriots were ascending (10-6 and early playoff bounce/12-4 AFCCG). The 10-6 Patriots are descending (16-0 and Super Bowl/11-5 missed playoffs). The question (well, one of many) moving forward is whether or not the descent has been slowed/halted/reversed. For someone to claim

Anybody who is paying attention understands that the Patriots are an ascending team.

requires that person to essentially ignore the reality of the past 3 seasons.
