Michael Silver (Yahoo): A Growing Disconnect Between Brady, Patriots

FACT: Brady is NOW an LA guy. His family is there, his model/wife and his kids.

His family is not there - one of Brady's children is in LA. Giselle and their child will go wherever he does. Brady's parents live in northern Cali.

Giselle and Tom collectively have residences in southern Cali, northern Cali, Costa Rica, Boston, NYC and Brazil. To say he's locked down in Cali is a joke. When you're that rich, you can afford to live all over the place.

Thank Goodness Silver wrote a piece that's not all about the happy-happy times in joy-joy land. Now a national writer can be vilified for a little while. That will give the locals a break.

You clowns are such homers. I mean I can't believe you people.

FACT: Brady is NOW an LA guy. His family is there, his model/wife and his kids.

Brady and Giselle live in both Boston and Los Angeles and sometimes in Brazil. Gisselle has been bicoastal for years before she ended up with Brady (although she lived in NYC on the East Coast).

FACT: Pats play in Foxboro.

Hey you got that point right. I guess you can't be wrong about everything.

FACT: There WILL be a team in LA in 2011.

Really?!? Which team? Where will they play? Maybe they can play at Beverly Hills High School.

The state has approved to build Los Angeles Stadium and they can have it built 30 months after a team commits to move there. So, if a team committed to moving to Los Angeles tommorrow, there wouldn't be a stadium available until the 2013 season.

September 2008: City of Industry is expected to review the supplemental EIR.
  • City of Industry unanimously approves supplemental EIR.
  • Governor Schwarzenegger signs Bill allowing Stadium project to move forward.
  • Stadium construction will begin as soon as an NFL Team commits to move to Los Angeles. Construction will take approximately 30 months to complete.

Stadium on Los Angeles Stadium

POSSIBLE: FRANCHISE TAG might be a concession the owners have in the new CBA.

It has slim to no chance of happening.

FACT: The Pats ownership have been too concerned about overpaying since this CBA came up.

Not true. Some owners haven't been too concern about overpaying since the CBA came up.

FACT: Manning is going to get a ridiculous contract and the Pats are fuking this up by not getting Brady done now.

Do we know that for sure? First, Brady may not want a Manning deal (he didn't want it the last time). The Colts are having some issue with other players like Robert Mathis because of contracts. They may not want to pay Manning too much over the highest paid player to avoid all their players wanting better deals.

FACT: The Pats haven't won in 7 years folks, wake up smell the coffee. Brady can have a ton of money, live in LA, see his son every week and finish his career on top. An I'm a fuking Village idiot. This whole message board is full of village idiots you fuking clowns. I mean do you guys even know how an athlete thinks. You think he's going to sign here for some blind loyalty to the Krafts who are trying to *** over his whole Union. Wow. You guys are really, really uneducated dumb people.

Yes, Brady could live in LA during the season. The Fox Sunday football broadcast is in an LA studio. He can retire and I am sure they would hire him in a second. Otherwise, there won't be a team in LA for at least three or four seasons from now. If there was going to be a team in LA next year, we would already know about it and we don't.

BTW, did I fall asleep at work for two years and wake up in 2012? Has it already been seven years since 2005?

OMG. I just realized. . . . What if that team relocates to Brazil instead of LA?

We're doooooooooooomed! :(

And you know how athletes think, Einstein? Learn how to write a plausible, fact-based argument and you might take a big step toward proving your omniscience. And you should learn to write before you start calling others dumb or uneducated. You sound like you've been spending too much time with household cleaners. Remember, huffing will damage your brain.

Nobody claims Brady will work for free. He has never demanded to be the highest paid QB, and there is nothing to suggest he will ask to be the highest paid now. Review his previous, post-Super Bowl contract dealings and find some enlightenment. And you might want to find some authority, other than your delusional rant, supporting your tin foil hat conspiracy theory that Brady will stick it to Kraft out of loyalty to the union in the CBA bargaining process.

When was the last time Silver shared any inside or insightful information? I can't remember his stance on the ACL/MCL stuff, but I don't remember him being too prevalent in the media during that. I doubt there's much of a relationship. Brady has more of a relationship with Curran, and look how far that got him when reporting about Brady's knee injury - he had no inside info either.

As for Silver - his bias is apparent then. He's trying to paint Kraft in a negative light to explain why Brady isn't signed. The idiotic thing is Peyton isn't signed either - so what good are Irsay's words? The truth is, Brady has a - to steal a Californication term - "broner" for Belichick, and I don't see him going anywhere. Just two weeks ago, Brady was talking about how they play for the greatest coach of all-time, and how they have to listen to him more. Does that sound like a guy ready to pack up and walk?

Don't forget Drew Brees isn't signed yet either and the first thing out of Tom Benson's mouth after the Super Bowl was that they were going to give Brees a new deal. So the three top QBs in the league are in line for new deals and none of them have made any progress on new deals and it is only Brady that has these speculations.

Great point. Really goes to show you what a lightning rod this team is in terms of the national media.

Fuking dopes. Enjoy Tom's last season here.

I will. It will be sad to see him go in 5-10 years.

Hey, enjoy Brady playing for the mythical Los Angeles Unicorns who start playing in Los Angeles in 2011 coached by the Easter Bunny and owned by the Tooth Fairy. Seriously, you talk about a team in Los Angeles in 2011 as fact and you think you have a right to insult anyone's intelligence?

Silver hates the Patriots and loves Brady. In the PFW preseason poll, he has the Pats ranked 18th in his power poll (the mag itself has the Pats tying the Jets at 10-6 and getting the wild card because they lose the tiebreaker for the division). He calls Brady "Tommy", but he slams the Patriots quite a bit.

He does have a relationship with Brady. So he could have inside information, but even if he did he would take a negative slant towards the Patriots even if Brady was far less negative in what he is telling Silver.

He hasn't had a relationship with Brady since shortly after Bridget announced her pregnancy and Tom and Giselle's relationship became public. It was already going south over spygate. Then he judgementally tore Tommy a new one over his personal indiscretion and that was the end of Silver's pipeline to TFB (which btw had to do with his being with SI which was no longer the case either...). I'm sure some in the Brady camp, whatever that may be, are frustrated for Tom contractually. Oddly I don't think Tom is. He's here to stay, he knows it, Kraft knows it, Belichick knows it, but that doesn't make for interesting copy. BTW Manning still hasn't inked a deal with Indy and Irsay is now concerned about being able to pay his other talent if a Manning deal is prohibitive...

Oh, and FWIW geddie is a miserably little troll who only crawls out from under his rock when presented with an opportunity to spew his Brady's gone garbage.

Predictably , you always seem to take the side of anyone who seems to take an -ve approach to the whole team or player and call it objective all the time.

My post doesn't take any particular side with regards to the issue of Brady/Patriots/Contract. Meanwhile, your post makes a claim about me that's patently untrue, but tosses in "seems" to bail itself out.

But don't let the facts get in the way of your post!

I'm sure there's nothing Brady would prefer more than to finish his career getting pounded behind a non-existent line, with virtually no weapons, trying to bring an expansion franchise to respectability in a town that cares more about its 2 college football teams than its new NFL team.

on come on. Every post when there something anti pats, yours is the only one sounding rational to agree or rather not disagree with the guy including this but instead bashing everyone in the forum who is giving their opinions as biased. anyways sorry, i didnt meant to hijack this thread to call you out or anything.apologize.

Wow! Felger is having a ball with this story. He is dissecting a story based a lot of conjecture and putting his own conjecture on Silver's conjecture. Anyone listening who would like to conjecture Felger's conjectures of Silver's conjectures.

Seriously, Felger says that Brady's denial of comment is a definitive confirmation of the story because he refused to comment on the story. That is kind of weird because it is typical of Brady and the Patriots not to negotiate through the media. If MoLewis is right and Brady and Silver have had a falling out, he might not speak to Silver on the record for anything.

Felger also argues that there are certain buzz words that he says are in there that tells him that comes directly close to the situation like "Brady took less than his perceived market value – and significantly less per season than Manning – as a means of allowing the Patriots more financial flexibility to surround him with a strong supporting cast". I guess a person close to the situation is anyone who has read anything about Brady's current contract over the last five years because that has been repeated time after time by the media.

Since you're claiming that I'm the only one, perhaps you haven't noticed that Ian's been locking those attack threads and/or defending the reporters. I suggest a glance at a couple of those recent threads. The SMY thread would probably serve as a good start.

Here's a pretty good starting post:

I can see this thread is going no where, and given the recent history that we've experienced here lately - for the record - I'm not interested in this forum being a place where we continually bash the people who bring us the information. Enough already.

You're right Robo. Its all made up.

At least you can admit it. Yes, in the next five to ten years, there will be a franchise in LA. But there will not be one in there next year or the year after. There might not be one in LA before Brady retires.

This is not the 70s, 80s, or early 90s where teams sneak out of town in the middle of the night. The NFL is the premiere sports league in the world. Any move requires years of planning, marketing, and stadium development. They cannot easily host a franchise the Rose Bowl for three years while they build a new stadium. Even if they did it for a year or two, there would need a year or two of stadium upgrades.

As a quick glance at his posting history will attest, Geddie72 is merely the latest klinefan-esque Jets troll to infest the board. Don't bother feeding him.

While I didn't even bother to read the article as I am sure Silver has no insider info, I for one don't think Brady is a lock to re-sign with the Pats. I don't need an article written by a yahoo to tell me that Tommy Boy has grown up since he started here, and like lots of people who get married and have kids, his focus is completely different from what it was when he was a young guy. If the Pats are offering basically the same money he could get from a west coast team, why wouldn't he consider it? Like the rest of us who (unfortunately) have more to think about than working out and playing football, he'll probably think about a move if it would be markedly better for him and his family. What really ties him to NE in a job that's bound to end in the next 10 years no matter where he plays? I think about his statement in that video that his favorite ring is "the next one," but he doesn't sound like that any more. Football has evolved for Brady into a job rather than a passion. It's still a good job, no doubt, doing something he loves, but until he signs on the dotted line, I'll be worried that whatever the Pats offer won't be enough to overcome the other "competition" in his life (that he didn't have last time he signed on the dotted line).

Fingers crossed the Michael Silver and me are wrong.

Actually, I think Geddie72 is actually a Colts' troll.
