Looks like he's been reading some old threads on this board.

A whole lot of conjecture, not much substance. Enjoy.

Yeah, lots of conjecture there.

Unfortunately, it's one of the side effects of secrecy. . . .

This article should really be called A Growing Disconnect Between National Mediots and Local Beat Writers.

It's frustrating, as a fan, who probably spends 20 hours a week reading/thinking/talking about the Patriots to read something by a national guy and just know its 100% conjecture - and not just that, but 100% BS.

In an age where we have 3-5 updates a day from Reiss or Breer about this team, it's hard for a national guy to sneak uninformed, tired crap like this past us like this.

I mean, really - how bad is Michael Silver at his job? If I can work a 9-5 job and still have time to read every Reiss/Breer piece, he couldn't find the time to do so before writing an article on the team they cover? Hack.

F Michael Silver. The next piece he writes worth reading will be his first. This worthless hack is nothing more than a pro-jock, anti-management mouthpiece, just like his illegitimate cousin Dan LaBastard.

Breer has already jumped on this bandwagon. Check out his latest blog post.

EDIT:
WEEI and Rapaport are also citing Silver's report. Sigh. Get the CBA done so we can move on with our lives.

I just love this part:

Last February, five days before the Colts’ Super Bowl XLIV defeat to the New Orleans Saints, Indy owner Jimmy Irsay said of a contract extension, “You know it’s going to get done. I think it’s clear, and we’ll start on it this summer. … And it’ll be the biggest [contract] in history; there’s not much doubt about that.”

Contrast that with the comments Kraft made to reporters in March at the NFL owner meetings in Orlando about a potential Brady extension: “Great things happen in life if you’re flexible and not rigid. … We’re balancing a lot of different factors in an unknown environment. We’re not sleeping. It’s just complicated.”

Irsay's style of negotiation is to drop his pants, bend over and wait to see what happens. Pretty astute business man, especially in light of Manning's desire to personally account for as much of salary cap (whatever form that takes under a new CBA) as possible.

Kraft has taken a more measured public posture and, not all that surprisingly, the Patriots will likely be more cautious than others here. Still, at least for the time being, Manning's in the same situation as Brady - no contract after 2010. Maybe Peycheck feels better because his owner is an idiot ...

I just kind of perused the article because it just wasn't going anywhere. In fact, I really don't know or don't care how it ends. However, I feel Brady should be the highest paid player in the NFL. Despite him not having a "Brady" like season, he is still the most feared QB in the NFL.

Citing, yes, but no one is verifying. Because there's nothing to report. He read a couple quotes from Kraft and threw in his own conjecture.

Silver hates the Patriots and loves Brady. In the PFW preseason poll, he has the Pats ranked 18th in his power poll (the mag itself has the Pats tying the Jets at 10-6 and getting the wild card because they lose the tiebreaker for the division). He calls Brady "Tommy", but he slams the Patriots quite a bit.

He does have a relationship with Brady. So he could have inside information, but even if he did he would take a negative slant towards the Patriots even if Brady was far less negative in what he is telling Silver.

Excellent. The always-present "people close to Brady" suggest there may be some dissatisfaction with proceedings on his contract. You have to love anonymous sources not even tied to an organization or occupation.

You have a public statement by Kraft, and the uncertainty of the CBA that may suggest a long-term deal is ill-advised at present but highly likely in the future. As far as Brady looking to Manning's deal, I doubt it as Brady's approach, accepting a lesser percentage of the overall salary cap, has won him more rings.

I called this a long time ago. And if you know people who know Tom, he's gone.

LOL! Gone when? 2016? Definitely not in the next few years. Never going to happen unless the Pats get two first rounders for him in a franchise deal where they decide not to give him an exclusive rights franchise tag.

BTW, Wilfork was upset with the negotiation process until he got his deal. So was Seymour before he got his deal with the Patriots. So was Randy Moss before he got his deal with the Patriots.

Most elite players are upset when their team doesn't basically agree to their demands.

You clowns are such homers. I mean I can't believe you people.

FACT: Brady is NOW an LA guy. His family is there, his model/wife and his kids.

FACT: Pats play in Foxboro.

FACT: There WILL be a team in LA in 2011.

POSSIBLE: FRANCHISE TAG might be a concession the owners have in the new CBA.

FACT: The Pats ownership have been too concerned about overpaying since this CBA came up.

FACT: Manning is going to get a ridiculous contract and the Pats are fuking this up by not getting Brady done now.

FACT: The Pats haven't won in 7 years folks, wake up smell the coffee. Brady can have a ton of money, live in LA, see his son every week and finish his career on top. An I'm a fuking Village idiot. This whole message board is full of village idiots you fuking clowns. I mean do you guys even know how an athlete thinks. You think he's going to sign here for some blind loyalty to the Krafts who are trying to *** over his whole Union. Wow. You guys are really, really uneducated dumb people.

Bwahahahahahahaha... what is it with you? Happy Hour start early where you live? :eat2:

Stop it! You're killing me!

When was the last time Silver shared any inside or insightful information? I can't remember his stance on the ACL/MCL stuff, but I don't remember him being too prevalent in the media during that. I doubt there's much of a relationship. Brady has more of a relationship with Curran, and look how far that got him when reporting about Brady's knee injury - he had no inside info either.

As for Silver - his bias is apparent then. He's trying to paint Kraft in a negative light to explain why Brady isn't signed. The idiotic thing is Peyton isn't signed either - so what good are Irsay's words? The truth is, Brady has a - to steal a Californication term - "broner" for Belichick, and I don't see him going anywhere. Just two weeks ago, Brady was talking about how they play for the greatest coach of all-time, and how they have to listen to him more. Does that sound like a guy ready to pack up and walk?

We are uneducated dumb people? GFY, douchebag. Yeah, there WILL be a team in LA in 2011 and Brady WILL go to Free Agency and WILL choose to sign with said fictional and conjectural LA team thus leaving the New England Patriots, the team to which he owes EVERYTHING he has in life, to dry.

I'd love to hear some explanations as to why you are certain of the realization of so many things with a 0,1% chance of happening. Also an insight as to why you are the only person here who understands how professional athletes think would be nice.

Hmm.....let's see. We last won in 2005, and if my finger counting is correct, that would be five years ago that we last won the SB. Learn to count troll!
