Best. Defender. In. NBA. History.

Sorry to Bird, Havelchick, the Jones brothers, Pierce, etc. but when you win as a player and coach the way he did you deserve that honor.

Plus it doesn't help that they created one of the most even trades in NBA history to get him improving two teams at the same time and still making it look like the Celtics robbed the Hawks!

You can say that again the greatest winner in team sports history. 11 Championships in 13 years for the Celtics, 2 NCAA championships with Univ. of San Francisco of all places and a 1956 gold medal. Just increadable.

Here's one for you youngsters. Bill Russell would dominate in today's game even more so then when he played in the 60's.. Anyone that knows basketball, and knows the intelligence, athleticism that Russell had, would have to agree. Russell, had the intensity of Garnett and the brains of Bird. Not sure who I could compare his athleticism to, but he did jump his height. In a former post, someone disputed the effects of his blocked shots ( said to have AVERAGED 17 a game in college)..........
Down the road, when fans look back at the NBA's greats. Jordan will be just another great player. Russell, will be the player with the social conscious that opened doors up for players and for regular people. 11 championship rings, yea I know..but...........

4 points last game. PP, Rondo and KG are on fiyah.
Ray ray had 1 good game out of the last 4. What are we paying this guy?
19.7 mill!!! Is Ray Allen worth this amount of money? If you answer yes to that, then you my friend, are a true azzclown.

Your not paying him anything. If you can't see what Ray Allen has done for this team in his time with the Celtics then you have too much sh!t packed too tight between your ears.

Looking back on that series you couldn't be more wrong. In game 1 he tallied 25 points by shooting well from near and far making jumpers to stop any orlando rally. He was also ice from the free throw line.

Game 2 he didnt shoot well at all but commanded mucho attention and had the defense scrambling. He made about 6-7 terrific pocket passes coming off the weak side screen which led to countless buckets.

Game 3 was a solid game. Ray tallied 13 points and 6 assists and 6 rebounds. He never forced the issue and always made the right decision. Indeed, this guy is a basketball genius.

Game 4 Ray tallied 22 points including 3 win or lose 3 pointers in the end game (HE MADE ALL OF THEM).

Game 5, ray's jumper was off but he made terrific decisions and ended up with 7 assists.

Game 6 was another very good game. Ray made 2 game swinging 3 pointers after halftime and ended up with 20 points. It should be noted that he also had 3 jumpers go in and out.

He had 4 good games out of 6. Damn impressive.

Kevin Garnett was "on fiyah"? He missed countless open shots and got punked by dwight howard. He even embarrassed himself by karate chopping his arm. Garnett had a disgraceful series. Yet he was on fire? What series are you watching?

Yup ... Ray Allen was done with the old record ... he made it new again.

Thank God for Ray tonight :D

0-13 tonight making 19.7 mill. Keep talkin...

+1

Ray isnt the player he once was, but he is still a very effective player and shooter from the perimiter and a solid starter. He fits in perfect with the Celtics offense and stretches the floor with his 3 point shots.

Hopefully the Celtics resign him for atleast another year or two, will help when they go on a run to defend there title next year!

OK, you made this topic too early because as seen above he had a legendary game 2.

But after game 2, Ray Allen has been "done". He has done nothing for us since and can't hit a 3.

If he doesn't show up for Game 7 then time to move on.

Ray Allen lost this game for us, I'm sorry to say. Time to pick up a stud shooting guard with 20 mill coming off the books.

First off you're wrong, which is no surprise, and secondly you're FOS about being sorry to say. Ray played exceptional defense all series long. He almost singlehandedly won us game 2 with his playoff record setting 3 point performance. After that he did go cold, but he more than made up for it most nights by taking on Kobe so Pierce wouldn't have to.

Danny put this big three together in hopes of creating a 3 year window in which they would once again compete for a championship. In that time they went to the finals twice and won once. Considering what they as an organization were rising up from, that is nothing short of incredible. Considering the way their season unfolded this year, just getting to game 7 from the 4 seed was a remarkable accomplishment.

Ray Allen is probably one of the classiest and decentest and likeable players in a league full of thugs and idiots and egomaniacs it's not easy to root for. I feel the same way about him as I felt about Rodney, wish we'd known him sooner. And as far as I'm concerned he's welcome to remain here as long as he and the organization want him to.

Oh, and you're a kneejerk idiot.
