With quarterback Jason Campbell getting most of the work (the company line will be about training camp competition, but the only way he doesn’t start is because of injury), the Raiders, with offensive coordinator Hue Jackson challenging his offense and talking trash to the defense, actually put a legitimate NFL passing game on the field.

“I’ve seen how far we’ve come as an offense, and we’re much better and guys are developing,” tight end Zach Miller said. “I mean, just watching him, Heyward-Bey has been phenomenal out here. He’s matured a lot and I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of season he’s going to have.”

Jason Campbell started for a team that went 4-12 last year, and had a top 5 pick. Let's let it play out and just see what happens.

Everybody looks good in shorts n t-shirts, bet I wouldnt look too bad out there either without pads on... :bricks:

Why is this news ? We've known about this for 6 weeks.

Anyway, the top of the 2011 draft is strong, any pick inside the top 15 works for me. Of course there are some people who are desperate to prove that it was a bad trade.

The point of the reporter is that the Raiders didn't even look good in shorts and t-shirts before. Now, they've at least come that far.

I'm still unsure why they're going to hand the starting job to Campbell and won't at least give Gradkowski a chance. He did some good things for their passing game last year, when healthy.

The Raiders were running OTAs 6 weeks ago?

P.S. I've noted that where the pick falls doesn't change my opinion of the trade, so I assume that I'm not among "some people". This was news, so I passed it on.

There's no news here other than Raiders saying how good they now are. Sorry, that's not news. You're just trying to spew the same crap about the trade being bad. Have fun.

Come on, Deus. If the Raiders actually fell into competence, Big Al would start calling the coach on the field and directing the plays to facilitate some failure.

But then again, the losing season streak has to end at some point. Count me among the surprised whenever that happens if Al Davis remains the owner.

Jason Campbell was 12--20 with the Redskins the last two years. He threw 15 picks last year vs. 20 TD's. Like Kontra, I wonder why they won't give Gradkowski a chance. In other words, I don't think the Raiders are going to be in the Playoffs next year. ;)

I don't think anyone ever expected this to be a top 5 pick and, if it were, BB would probably have just traded it. Any place in the top half of the first day should do fine. If there's someone in the top ten that the Pats feel is worth it, they have plenty of picks with which to trade up.

I didn't comment on the trade, other than to point to news about how the Raiders OTA went. Now, you can either take the news for what it was, which was just news regarding the pick, or you can pretend that you know what the hell you're talking about with regards to why I was posting it. when you don't. I also posted about the lawsuit against Brady getting dropped at just about the same time. That must have been about the bad trade too, though, right?

For the record, Both stories were on PFT, and I followed the sources to give them the credit they deserved. That's all it was, despite your assertions to the contrary. As I've said repeatedly, where the pick falls, and who is gotten with the pick, is irrelevant to my opinion about the trade.

Enough about "the news". "The news" here is "The olds", it happened six weeks ago. All you have to support your "trading Seymour was a bad move" theory that you've spewed as nauseum is quotes from Raider players; and that's not news, sorry.

The story has nothing to do with Seymour. I'm not sure why this has to be repeated over and over. It has to do with the Raiders OTA, and how the reporter felt that went.

Also, it's not 6 weeks old, no matter how many times you claim that it is:

Raiders are enjoying the post-Russell era

Raiders are enjoying the post-Russell era | ProFootballTalk.com

Now, today is May 26, 2010. So, unless you're cruising around in a "Way back/Way forward" machine, the news is not six weeks old. Given that it's not even 7:00 pm, and the man's post was made at about 2 pm, it's not even six hours old.

It's news. It's about something that could impact the Patriots. It's posted.

I think Denver and SD take them twice next year. KC have had a good draft too.
While I'd love it to be a top ten draft pick next year let the cards fall where they may.

I find the Oakland watching a little disturbing. I guarantee BB doesn't care a jot what they are doing now, neither will he until he knows where he picks.

If we get worried about Jason Campbell in May its going to be a long long off season.

Enough with the news from the future...o wai

You're a Felger wanna be. It has EVERYTHING to do with Seymour.

That was a bad trade regardless of where the pick ends up and who is taken with it,. You can keep bleating on about this, but it won't change my reasoning for posting the story, and that reason had nothing to do with Seymour. Again, it had nothing to do with Seymour. It had to do with news that could potentially impact that draft pick.

Now, feel free to go back to all the threads where people were thrilled with Jamarcus Russell sucking because it would mean that the Raiders would end up giving New England a higher draft position, and go to the threads where people were posting about how they didn't want Campbell to go to the Raiders because that would potentially make for a lower pick, and insist that those posters were all really talking about Seymour.

Fine, start a blog with every quote from the Raiders all season. And call it news. It's still not news but, whatever.

That's going to be an interesting division this season, I think. It's entirely possible that the Broncos, Chiefs and Raiders could all be better this season. The Chiefs were a very slow team, and they definitely upgraded the team speed. The Broncos brought in Jamal Williams, who can really help anchor that line if he's healthy, and the Raiders ditched Russell.
