would you rather have the proven vets which are old and injury prone or would rather have the new guy who hasnt proven anything?

i would go with BJGE, lets finally see if hes worth a spot, we dont need BOTH of morris and taylor, pick one

Morris and Taylor. BJGE seems like a nice enough young man but he's just a guy on the football field. Morris and Taylor probably each help us this year. We can pick up a BJGE for nothing in the offseason but we'll probably get a real RB.

If we had to choose two from three and Morris and Taylor were healthy and full of energy ... no question. But the reason to keep BJGE is that we can't expect that from both Fragile Fred and Sometimes Sammy.

I wouldn't say that BJGE hasn't proven anything... I think he's shown some pretty good stuff - good decisiveness, hard running... he just hasn't been a superstar. If one of those three has to be cut I'm in favor of keeping youth.

The fact that Morris and Taylor will each likely be out at times is the reason I want to keep them both. At any given time, one will likely be able to play.

Here we go again. Morris/Taylor for me.

I'd take the proven vets in a heartbeat, even acknowledging they might miss some time due to injury.

BJGE is a good guy to have on the roster if there is a spot available for him. But he is a true emergency back-up, not the guy you rely on for a running game. If the blocking works (anticipating 2009 references to the 65 yards against Denver in the 41-7 beatdown or the 105 yards against Buffalo), he does fine. If it doesn't, the other two are more capable of getting hard yardage.

The fact that we neither drafted Deji Karim nor scooped up Joique Bell still makes me want to STAB someone.

STUPID.

Keep Sam Bam. LOVE the guy. SCRAPPER.

Keep Taylor. Ordinarily, I'd go with the young guy, but all Hyphenators must die.

And I'd like to see what the UFA can do.

I have little use for LoMo, and would've traded him before the draft, bringing in Karim and Bell.

But having said that: LoMo is poised for a Career Year.

I would rather go with the guys who are more likely pick pick up yardage.

There were times when either Morris or Taylor didn't dress for games because of injuries (sometimes both) where BJGE didn't see the field or so vey limited action last year. Taylor missed most of the year. Morris missed four games. BJGE still only had 26 carries all of last year.

People need to get over BJGE. Right now, I wouldn't guarantee him a spot over Eric Kettani, Pat Paschall, or Chris Taylor. BJGE has been in the league for two seasons now and we know what he is (a JAG who fills in the bottom of the roster and only sees the field if guys in front of him are deactivated for the game). He had plenty of opportunities to prove he was something more last year and never stepped up even with Taylor and Morris not on the active roster in the same game. If any of the younger guys show promise in the preseason, it may be time for Belichick to move on from BJGE.

Don't be surprised if the Pats RB roster in 2010 is Maroney, Faulk, Morris, Taylor, and Paschall with BJGE on another team. Personally, I think Paschall may have far more upside than BJGE.

BJGE is the RB version of Bam Childress. And like Childress, chances are good that after two years of not living up to the fan hype, he will be seeking his services elsewhere. The only time BJGE showed anything last year was garbage time on a 59-0 route.

BTW, my predicted roster is what I stated in the last post - Maroney, Faulk, Morris, Taylor, and Paschall. So if I have to pick two, it is Morris and Taylor since I don't see BJGE beating out Paschall either.

Exactly!! BJGE is a nice story because he is a hard worker. He is not a starting RB for anyone or really a quality back up

This is probably the most likely core, even though I feel Morris and Taylor are toast.

No matter what happens until opening day, our runningback core will be average at best. I hope this won't cost us any games, as it is becoming a passing league. (The Colts horrible runninggame didn't matter to become AFC champs).

Our RB core consists of two of the oldest in the league (Morris and Taylor), a dancing dissapointment (Maroney), a pass catching back( Faulk), and either BJGE or Paschall. I just can't see the pats winning a snow game having to run the football. Hopefully they won't have to.

BJGE is my binkie, i love the way he plays.

I don't know about that. Morris was consistently unimpressive compared to '07-'08 but Taylor was excellent when healthy, probably the Pats most consistent and productive running back in 2009 on a par game basis. I'd be real disappointed if he isn't brought back.

no, BJGE is a question mark...i cannot agree with those who are saying we have seen his ceiling, we havnt, we havnt had the chance

How long do we have to wait before he is no longer a question mark? Five years? Ten years? Personally, I think the only question about him is whether he can stave off Paschall for the fifth roster spot at RB. I think he made a decisive statement in games where it was only him and Maroney as pure RBs on the active roster and he didn't do much of anything.

If it is a preseason game vs. 2nd and 3rd stringers, there is no one I want more than BJGE. But if Paschall shows any potential, I damn sure hope BJGE is gone for Paschall to have a roster spot. We are talking RBs. Very few RBs become significantly better over time except due to injuries. BJGE is just an overhyped JAG.

That is exactly the scenario with BJGE. He has never performed on a consistent basis in the regular season for us to really see what he is like. And until that happens, there is absolutely no justification for grading him.

Well, it would help to see BJGE rush more than a few times a year.

It's hard to get a read on someone with only 30 carries or so.

Isn't the definition of a JAG? Doesn't perform well enough when the coach's evaluate them to get playing time to prove himself on the field. I mean we haven't seen enough of Matthew Slater at safety to judge how good he is, but I know he will never be more than a special teamer and an occassional safety when injuries occur and they need a body on subpackages.

The verdict is in. The coaching staff do not think nearly as highly of the guy as people on this board. He probably would have been cut if wasn't for the Giants preseason game where he showed a lot of heart and detrmination against their scrubs. It was enough for him to make the roster, but I think it is pretty daming for him when in a game like Indy where Maroney is pulled for fumbling in the end zone and both Taylor and Morris are inactive that BJGE doesn't get a single carry. Or the following week against the Jets with both Morris and Taylor still out, he only gets 5 carries and four of them were in garbage time. Or against Miami when both Morris and Taylor are again out, he gets one carry. How much more evidence do you need?

I know he is a binkie of the board and people think he is Walter Payton ressurrected just waiting to get his chance, but the facts of the situation just don't bear it. The reason why you guys haven't seen enough to make a decision is because he isn't good enough to earn playing time to prove that he is just a JAG. If can't get playing time when Maroney is benched and Morris and Taylor are out of the game, that means he isn't good. Seriously, if Belichick and his staff saw any inkling what many people on this board think he could be, wouldn't you think they would find a way to get him on the field?

Odds are pretty high BJGE won't make the team. It may not be 50-50 or worse (but it could be if Belichick like Paschell or another younger player who he might see more upside), but he shouldn't be buying property in New England just yet.
