Re: Welker did not tear MCL

My question without reading the article asks, then why wait until February for the operation?

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

-_- Well, if you read the article

"In fact, Welker discussed taking time to “let the MCL heal first“ in one of his first interviews after surgery. That’s why he waited a month for surgery. Now, he said it wasn’t injured."

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

had the exact same thing happen last year to my knee. the reason you wait to have the opperation is the less swelling around the area the better the chance of recovering to 100%. I did mine in early jan and waited till early feb to have my op for the same reason

Same with me .... It is to get full range of motion back before surgery .... Then repeat the process all over again. Sucks but glad I did it.

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

My guess is that he meant that the MCL was just sprained and did not require surgery. So they only fixed the ACL.

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

Not sure how to take this one as the article is based on a comment that wasn't really clarified. If he did not tear it then this is good news and a Sepeember October return is likely. But until it is confirmed/denied we won't know.

MCL sprain = partial tear.

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

If this report is true...this is HUGE.

Any contact information on JEFF LATZKE (AP)?

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

That is not exactly true.

A Grade I sprain is a stretch.
A Grade II sprain is a partial tear.
A Grade III sprain is a complete

Damnit man, I'm a call center employee not a doctor.

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

I still look for him to start the season on PUP. Just when he comes back seems now to be sooner rather than later.

I'd rather see him come back a little late rather than take the risk of his coming back too soon. But I do think he will be ready by week 6.

More and more it looks as if those alamists saying he'd miss the entire 2010 season were undully pessimistic. I'm staying with PUP but now more hopefull for better.

Star Treck reference and wicked cool hmmmm:rolleyes:

as to the report itself it doesn't do to much for me as I am in the optimistic category so I had is timeline being quicker than most I guess this justifies the optimism but doesn't really move the timeline in my uneducated guess. Certainly would be nice to get a clarification on how he can say in january he was waiting for the MCL to heal before the surgery and than in May he can say ther was no MCL injury, Surgery, or tear (however you read it) because without it we are left guessing and really the only thing that can come out of this is that Wes is not worried about the MCL whether it really was injured or torn or whatever.

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

Way back when the initial reports came out, all they said was Injured ACL and MCL. Most people's immediate reaction was for the worst.. At the time, I took the realistic P.O.V and said that we didn't know how bad the injuries were. And we didn't.. Now, it's coming to light that Welker only had surgery on the ACL. That's a good thing as it means there was less trauma to the area than most people expected. It's also good because 7.5 months is right in between the 6-9 month recovery time to get back to unrestricted activities, though full mobility usually takes 12-18 months.

That being said, Welker has shown to be an amazing guy. I said before that I wouldn't be surprised to see him walk out the tunnel for Game 1. And I stand by that. It's no guarantee, of course, but I won't be surprised if he does.

Re: Welker did not tear MCL

There are three certainty in life....

(1) death
(2) taxes
(3) any information regarding NEP injuries and the extent of them is either misleading or outright false.
