OT: O.J. Atogwe won't sign his tender so he'll become an UFA

Too harsh. Meriweather made the Pro Bowl. Average safeties, on average defenses, don't make the Pro Bowl.

So do you think Tyvon Branch is an average safety? Meriweather was named an injury replacement ahead of him and he'd a comparable season. What about Michael Griffin or Abram Elam? Interestingly, Meriweather was the choice over all three last season.

Meriweather is a Pro Bowl safety. I am merely stating a fact. No giving my personal opinion.

Works for me. Sign the beast!

what beast ??? he had a good season 2 yrs ago before he had a shoulder surgery and sports hernia surgery and went to IR.

He will be starting mostly in PUP and no idea if he will ever go back to his 08 form.

Atogwe >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Meriweather.

But considering Meriweather is "decent", the cost would outweigh the need to upgrade. Just wouldnt be worth it.

Injury or not OJ is a beast rolled in Demon batter. Id take him in a second over any DB currently on the roster.

How explain this
2009 58 tackles/1 sack/2 INT
2008 77 tackles/0 sack/5 INT

became so better than
09 53 tackles/0 sacks/5 INt
08 61 tackles/1 sacks/4 Int

is so much better. He blew his shoulder and no idea if he can hit and throw a sports hernia and his running is in question. so tell me how a guy might be starting in PUP and then coming back better than Merriweather.

He signs now he makes less money and he does not become a UFA ,he gets 110% of last year salary. so he signs now he makes 2 million but signs after June 7million. So to be traded he will sign a 7 million contract and then we give a pick and sign him long term with atleast 7 million a yr so he can be in PUP

I'd only want him if he came for cheap, and he won't since he'll be a high level FA in a weak FA class. Sure the safeties can be upgraded, but the need isn't great enough for the money that Atogwe will be demanding.

While I wouldn't mind signing OJ, that would be throwing another pine into the logjam that we have in regards to safety depth. Also, Springs can play safety on occasion so if he does end up coming back in 2010, he can fill two positions for us while saving a roster spot for someone else. I also want to see how Chung progresses this season as his playing time should increase.

I wont address the $$ because I already said Meriweather is the better value.

What I will say is that I have seen most Rams games over the last few seasons (unfortunately) and unless you can honestly say the same thing, you simply dont know what you are talking about.

Merriweather is good, but Otagwe is a STUD. Plain and simple. Anyone that has watched them both play on Sunday knows this or is lying to themselves.

It's like comparing Bodden to Asomugha.

Sorry if you don't agree.

Then we can agree to disagree. Meriweather isn't a Pro Bowl safety. He was chosen one season to replace an injured Pro Bowl selected player. That's a fact.

If you can't get there on your own merit, you aren't a Pro Bowl caliber player.

So you are confident that his shoulder is 100% and he can hit and also his hernia has not taken his speed away. Lets not pay 7 million to say mankins but to this guy. even then how confident are you that he can hit and run like once he is 100% say by week 7 when he comes off PUP.

Ugh, so he's a BORDERLINE pro bowl player. Clearly an area of need that we should spend a ton of money upgrading right?

Where did I say this? Matter of fact... where did I say that we should even persue him??
