Chris Taylor's back.

Give us 7 RBs in Camp most likely.

That means his knee is coming along..always good to have some youmg competition...a LONG shot, but why not??

PFW guys indicated that during the minicamp, Pat Paschall was getting yell'ed at by the coaches for making mistakes. I wonder if Chris Taylors signing has anything to do with Paschall not showing any potential.

Taylor was an ERFA.. Usually teams don't give up on them unless they are truly worthless.

Also, it's rookie mini-camp. The coaches have to get back into shape also.. So they were probably just using Paschall as a test dummy..

He started out as an ERFA, but then they non-tendered him. So he became just a FA at that point and has been since March on the open market to anyone.

They bring him back as a regular FA, perhaps after seeing how the draft fell, etc. Perhaps his health progress.

Probably two reasons for the signing. Emergency depth, since three of our RBs are in their mid 30's. Also camp fodder, to keep those aging backs from having to take too many reps in practice while still keeping a RB in the drills.

We need camp fodder considering that our vets don't need any extra practice.
We need competition for the non-existent 5th running back spot.
It is useful to have a running back on the Practice Squad.
Finally, it is always good to have another body to compete in case of injury.

Not a great sign, but usually it's not mistakes that ruin people, it's how they react following the mistakes. If the coaches yelling at him during rookie camps leads to him buckling down, studying the playbook, etc, and he shows up to training camp improved, it will speak volumes for him going forward.

Be interesting to see which shoe drops if PFW's report is accurate.

Paschall was the only RB in camp....Fears needs someone to yell at! :beatingcoming:

What will be interesting is if Paschal is around by training camp. After the mini camp when the rooks are back, that is when coaches can see how ready they are. A few of the UFDAs and younger FAs, Practice squad players can be gone quite quick. SOME will not make it till the July TC.

They just need to run enough to make play action viable.
