Jets fan poll says Jets record 15-1 - only loss to Patriots

My guess is that Miami, NE and NYJ all split with each other and Buffalo goes winless in the division.

I think 12-4 is way out of reach. Lets not forget they lost 5 out of 6 last year and only 2 of those teams had winning records.
Mark Sanchez hasn't come close to showing he can lead a team to winning 3 od every 4.
Take a look at their schedule.
Having a blowhard braggard for a coach and signing players with bigger names than games sure caused so crazy thinking.

It's not impossible

Lets look at the Ravens of 2000 who were led by studs of QBs like Tony Banks and Trent Dilfer  but still finished 12-4 and eventually the SB

The Jets defense will sink or swim thier team .....not the offense

Just like the playoffs last season,Sanchez and company were in for the ride until the tired and overwhelmed defense got hammered by Manning in the 2nd half of the AFCCG but Manning has done it before in those games (2006 comes to mind :() so its nothing that thier defense had to be ashamed of.

If Sanchez can get the offense to score 20 points, they are going to win the majority of those games.,maybe not 12-4 but its not impossible

I do expect the Jets to have a top 5 defense with just a little turnover in the offseason, thier offense will be average but its not the strongpoint of thier team.

Objectivity; try it some time.
Don't use a big word if you don't know what it means.

Andy's post is basically factual. Only opinons were:
A) he thought 12-4 is out of reach, and given that you won 7 last year (and were given 2 which you can't count on every year)

B) Guys like Braylon Edwards, Ldt, and Jason Taylor have more name than game. Anyone who says their game is bigger than their name has no busines using the word objectivity in a sentence.

Mark my words. The Jets will go 15-1 this season.

15 indicted. 1 convicted.

I'd be shocked if the Jets lost a game anytime in the next 3-4 seasons. Look at their roster

God, and you call me a homer. Only the biggest Jets homer in the Universe would compare the Jets D with the 2000 Ravens D. Are you crapping me??????????

BTW, with a great D like the 2000 Ravens and 1985 Bears, a QB that doesn't throw INTs is key. Let the defense work. Sanchez tosses too many INTs for your Jets D is the 2000 Ravens D. Lets the other team have too many short fields. Dilfer was perfect for those Ravens.

Dilfer gets wrecked a lot, but he played well for that team. He was inconsistent but made a lot of big plays. (Think 1998 Vikings watered way down, but still taking many deep shots and hitting some to constitute most of their offense) Dilfer 2000 was WAY better than Sanchez 2009, and its not even close.
In any event, naming a team with a bad QB that went 12-4 doesn't mean any team with a bad QB can go 12-4.
The Jet defense isnt anywhere near the 2000 Raven defense. The Jets also face a tougher schedule, and have a more questionable running game.

Great Point, Name or Game, lets see:

Jason Taylor or TBC? TBC.

LdT or Faulk? Close, I'd choose Faulk for 3rd down back.

Cromartie or Bodden? Bodden.

12 games of Holmes or Holt? A wash.

Pats get almost even gameplay wise but the chemistry is much better. Yet, everyone is amazed at the Jets offseason.

I can understand the overrating of the Jets because of the large market, the blowhard coach and the signing of names but I just dont get all of this Dolphin love going around. They were a losing team last year. They strike me as one of the most thoroughly mediocre teams I have ever seen. What do they do well? The D is a mess. Chad Henne is one bad month from moving into his career as a backup who plays twice a year, and the running game is getting close to running on fumes.

They have Ronnie Brown and Brandon Marshall. The Play-Action pass will be deadly there.

The 1985 Bears and the 2000 Ravens are in a different galaxy to the Jets defense. Anyone that even puts them in the same vein of thought is kidding themselves.

Its a statement that a #1 defense can overcome a below average to average QB

Not comparing the two exactly as even but both teams had a #1 defense and there is no evidence at this time that the Jets will fall mightely from the top 5 in 2010 with little turnover.

How do you know that Sanchez is going to throw another 20 INTS based on a rookie season? - Some of the long time QBs in the league had a rough rookie year.

I hate defending the Jets for any which reason because I simply dislike them especially pretty boy Sanchez, but you have to give a QB another year or two to get his act together,if he throws another 20 then you might have a real good case, but I think your hatred of the Jets leaves no possibility of any young and raw member of that team possibly improving at all in your eyes.

Why is it when a player gets drafted as a Patriot and has a bad rookie season its "give him another year or two to develop" but when its a rival team he will suck forever based on 1 year?,Yes its called being a radical homer whether you admit it or not.

Very good Holmes/Holt comment. I see you aren't one of those that missed the fact that a couple of 50 catch season and a career high of 75 doesnt make the convict in waiting another Jerry Rice.
BTW, Holmes has 6 100 yard games in 4 NFL seasons. (Wes Welker had 6 and Moss had 5 LAST YEAR, Moss had 9 in 2007) But lets not let facts get in the way.

We seem to split with them (Miami) every year, they're getting their great RB back, they picked up a potentially great WR, and their QB seems serviceable. And we seem to split with them every year.

Great post. It's natural to be a homer. I'm a homer. You aren't.

This was done on a game by game basis. So it's stupid.

If you ask most Jets fans what they think their record will be, you'll probably get between 10-12 wins for the most part.

Seriously guys... math...

8-8 at best and I will take any bets...............

Holmes is overrated. Holt will get you close to identical production but the downside he is 33 and Holmes is in his prime. But Holmes is suspended, comes off as a bad lockeroom guy, while Holt is a future HOF and a great lockeroom guy.

Throw in the 5th round pick needed for trade the Jets should've just got Holt. :D
