great player, too bad to see him go

I think he signs that contract with a sick stomach.

He did everything he could not to go to the Mets ... tried using them to raise his price. The fans were all over it ... feeling he did not want to go there at all. Now he goes there to save face or just to get rich. That club is a baseball graveyard and going nowhere.

I'll bet he opened alot of players eyes with the way this
one played out.

So, where do we go from here to replace his offensive production?

Sox will make a deal before the deadline ... when they see what they can get from Hermidia ... who knows ... they could get lucky.:cool::cool:

in poker parlance, this team consistently continues to get "blinded out" by doing nothing before it's too late and all the opportunities are gone... which is one of the dumbest things you can do in poker.

nonetheless, the game is being ruined by a lack of a salary cap. I'm convinced there will be contraction within the next 5 years.

Happy New Year Jason
... that extra $6 million they are paying you might pay for lunch in New York vs lunch in Boston.

I get the feeling even the $6 million alone wasn't the issue - it was a pride thing for Bay at some point - he wasn't going to come back to the Sox even if he knew logically it was a better move for him.

Well, let's say Pride + $6 million. $6 million alone isn't what kept him from re-signing with the Sox in my opinion.

It's unforunate as he's obviously a very worthy player... he shouldn't be paid like a 50 home run guy even if he believes he should, because he's not.

The Sox made a fair offer and he declined.

I agree with everything you said. But it still sucks, I liked him and he fit in good with the Sox. Oh well

Sad to see him go. But hopefully we'll replace his offensive output somewhere, otherwise we're gonna have a tough season.

great news, i love my seed upgrade.

Any one?

To be continued....

The Mets are sitting on first place in their division while we just got swept by the Orioles. :(
