Agree 100%. I think they definitely flew under the radar last year, and also had the benefit of a somewhat soft schedule. Let's see what happens now when every team will treat their game vs NYJ like it's their own SB. Rex doesn't realize how hard it will be to "end up first in the league" with a target on your back every week.

Ryan also benefited from being a rookie hc with a lot of talent already on the roster. if he was coaching the Rams he would be laughed at more than he already is. He's a clown.

Rex proclaiming the Jets better than the rest of the league already? At what point does belief become unwarranted pressure and stupidity? I'm all for him getting the back of his players and instilling belief in them, but come on Rexy.

I've seen this movie before. I know how it ends.

CAN-GINI...at least the NY press knows how to throw 'em under the bus when they stink up the whole tri-state area

They're ravenous out that way ;).

sorry just realized there was already a thread on this

You serious? I find it very interesting when in April a head coach predicts his team will win the superbowl:

Said Ryan on Friday regarding the possibility of signing free-agent linebacker Adalius Thomas, per Manish Mehta of the Newark Star-Ledger, "With him, we’ll end up first in the league. Without him, we’ll end up first in the league."

Re: Rex Ryan Opens Big Mouth Again: Predicts 1st place

I wonder what took him so long.

There is confidence and then there is arrogance...Rex has exuded nothing but arrogance. This is just another prime example of it.

to be fair to the fatass, 40% of it is probably schtick, and 40% is probably coaching his guys.

I don't take him very seriously, but running your yap doesn't usually end well.

Re: Rex Ryan Opens Big Mouth Again: Predicts 1st place

The dumbass is just collecting talent anyway he can. Throwing out any thought of team chemistry. Just keep bringing in players by their "name" Rexy.

Well, boy did I hit the jackpot. Of the last 15 years, the most desirable football-baseball combination possible is Yankees/Patriots. 8 World Championships, 12 World Series/Super Bowl appearances, and 14 final fours... in FIFTEEN short years. The only 2 dynasties. I deserve every bit of it too.
Based on what, your being so humble?

So, Yankees DO rule and people in Connecticut are the only ones who can legitimately choose both Patriots AND Yankees as their home teams.
Let us all bow to those who are from Connecticut; we know not their glory.

Glad I didn't choose The Sox. Bucky Dent & Aaron Boone, anyone? Eat it.
I'm guessing you've never heard of, much less read Dale Carnegie's How to win friends and influence people.

If you wanted people here to share your good fortune of choosing to be a fan of two winning franchises at an early age (rather than accusing you of being a frontrunner and jumping on a bandwagon), then why would you tell people from this forum to "eat it", given the majority that have an allegiance to a baseball team here are most likely going to be Red Sox fans?

Not exactly the best first impression Pewsterbaby. There's obviously a big Boston/New York rivalry with all four pro sports leagues among those who live in those two areas. All I got out of that comment was a passive-agressive attempt to piss people off who frequent this forum.

There is arrogance and then there is pure stupidity/immaturity. Rex Ryan acts and talks just like a middle school boy. I think he's a football savant (I'll admit he's a good defensive coach).

Jets rule, Yankees and Red socks are just lame.

Can't say I'm surprised then again who is? That quote about being first was cracking me up but hey what do you think he's going to say with or without him we are going to be last?

Something more in the lines of what HC's say and not spout off like a diva?

But, I read it with amusement and will be grinning if it doesn't work out the way he thinks. And I know that this coc*y attitude from their HC, who has never played a single game, bugs a good % of the Jets fans. :)
