Yeah, we tend to hear it a lot. But the line about playing 110 snaps in a game says two VERY positive things to me:

1) He's durable and in great shape, which is often a wall for rookies in their first season.

2) He can contribute in ANY situation.

Kid's a football player, through and through.

Pretty much my thoughts.

What's more, this version of the "great values from his family" story was a little more interesting to me than the usual "threw bricks on the truck on Saturdays under the influence of a domineering father"/"threw melons on the truck on Saturdays under the influence of a domineering grandfather" kind of thing.* E.g., if he shows a bit of Ray Allen-like OCD, we'll have been warned. ;)

*Quick trivia question: Which two former Pats was I referring to?

Do they recycle these articles every year? It's the same type of article we read about a draft pick. I read a similar article about Butler last year and Wheatley the year before.

"(Insert Name) is a good player but an even better person"

It really is written every year, usually more than once. The Globe wrote theirs today.

Back when Bill Simmons had his own site, when he actually followed and cared about sports, he had a column about the Spring Training formula stories that get written every year and the only real difference was the players invovled. This is the football version of one of those.

I know the first one was Seymour, not sure of the second.
