People are getting carried away here, the replacement is Jason Campbell. While he is better than JeMarcus he is nowhere near good enough to be a starter based on what he has done so far in his career. He is the worst QB in the AFC West/Worst Division.

Campbell was always considered a bottom 5ish
starter qb. He is ment to be a backup.

They traded for the wron QB. I would've went with Colt Brennan.

An offseason devoid of poorly structured high profile free agent deals, a solid draft, and then smart front office moves? This all reeks of logic and common sense and I don't like it one bit.

Jason Campbell better through like 30 picks next year.

Eating his way out of the NFL.

Definitely not great for us. I'm not a huge Campbell fan, but he's at least a more stable QB than Russell. Plus their division is pretty up in the air:

Chargers: Still better than the Raiders.

Broncos: Definitely set up well for the future, but replacing Marshall with a rookie (however talented) has to be a downgrade for THIS year until proven otherwise.

Chiefs: Worse than the Raiders until they show me something.

I'm guessing 8-8 this year, give or take a win.

Damn, is it possible that the Raiders will actually be good this year?

it's not like they got Brett or Peyton...it's Jason Campbell. Even with the 'skins he was 4--12 last year.

I was arguing with some Fader fans about this guy on another board. They're all "It's not the team's fault, it's because he doesn't have any work ethic." I said yes it's true he's about as motivated as a DMV employee, but that doesn't change the fact that Al insisted on drafting him when Kiffin warned Al that's exactly what would happen.

It's just a shame, all those guys out there who work their hearts out to make the league but never get in; while this clown has all the natural talent in the world but just doesn't give a hoot.

Has he gotten that big? Anyone have an updated pic of him?

On the eve of a new CBA, Goodell has his poster child for capped rookie contracts... That will be JaBustuses NFL legacy.

But don't be astonished if some egomaniacal twit doesn't decide with all that talent he has to take another shot. Minnesota might have set themselves up to be that team...although if not there will be others. If Rex Grossman and Tavaris Jackson and any stiff who can throw a spiral can make a couple of million as a backup, we likely haven't seen the last of JaBustus just yet.

Well Jason Campbell should be starting at QB for the Raiders this year so let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Campbell's a league-average QB. Not great, not bad. Just by not sucking in unprecedented fashion, he's an enormous upgrade over Russell. And he's better than Gradkowski and Frye, who the Raiders were winning games behind last year.

Re: Russell to get cut finally!! Is Al still running things down in OAK??

Well, he does have the prototypical size to play the 5-technique in our scheme...

AHAHAHAHA ... No wonder we passed on Odrick. BB mustve gotten the inside scoop from Al again.

Here's hoping their minicamp is catered.
