Yep, Gasper has gone the Felger route

I understand the Gaspar logic that it took two people to mess up the relationship between Thomas and BB.

What he neglected to mention (as did everyone else so far) is that Adalius Thomas was rated the SECOND WORST LB in the NFL based upon expected tackles in 2009. He was NOT getting the job done. Which led to the decline in his playing time, the soured relationship etc.

If he is so good Christian, then why was he rated so low.

Either he lost a step, or failed to show up.

Either way, yes, at this ppoint he has to go. And it is a very poor ending to what was a big time free agent signing that we all loved at the time.

i.e. the Pats should have done their homework on the type of personality they brought in when they signed Adalius

how does he know they didn't? I see ZERO hard copy evidence that ANYONE in the Patriot organization said they didn't do their homework. An interview and quotes from Scott Pioli would be nice...did Gasper conveniently forget Pioli was still with the Pats when the deal was struck?

Enough...this whiny crap is boring anyway and nobody is going to change their OPINION.

Unless someone knows facts not presented, there's nothing wrong with that article, and it's certainly not going "the Felger route", IMO.

The claim that BB insists on players being "robots" is waayyyyy overstated, IMO. Why do you think it's accurate?

There's nothing wrong with certain PARTS of the article, taken together.

But some of it is nonsense, and all the nonsense is on the anti-BB side.

I'm a quasi-journalist in real life, and I understand the motivations for thinking somebody is a bad guy because he clamps down on the information you want/need. But the Jetsons comment, as well as the claim that Thomas is gone solely for reasons unrelated to his performance on the field, are irresponsibly inaccurate.

As a Felger defender, I think Felger has started to go to Borges' rates with his hypocriscy. I don't know why he has gone to this length to bash Belichick myself. Gasper has not gone this far.

Let's review the hypocriscy of Felger:

He says that the Pats haven't been successful this half of decade although they won the division four of five year, went to two AFC Championships and won won, went to a Super Bowl, and had an undefeated regular season. Yet, he treats the fact that the Jets finished second in the division, backed into the playoffs, and lost in the AFC Championships as if they went 19-0 and proof the Pats are doing it the wrong way.

He complains that team chemistry is an issue and then blasts them for not going after flashy player while going after guys who would fit their system.

Blames them for not trading up or staying where they were in the first round and having a number of players high on their list rather than targeting "the player" and then admits the Pats were agressive with both Maroney and Chad Jackson claims they were bad picks.

Good point. Gasper hasn't been that ridiculous to my knowledge.

Rather, he's introduced a huge amount of slant into his more reasonable analysis -- not Borges-level, but what I was viewing as Felger level.

If Felger's gotten yet worse since I stopped paying attention to him, my analogy may be flawed.

Lost in this entire AD discussion is the fact that he completely sucks at playing football now.

That has a lot more to do with what transpired then anything Belichick said or did.

AD had 20 million reasons to perform well and adapt, he chose not to..

Is that BB's fault???

The robot thing is silly. Bruschi, Law, Seymour, McGinest, Rodney, Harrison, Moss, Brady, Wilfork. Robots?

i stopped reading Gasper simply because he's a bad writer; his points don't add up. He takes a position then goes about trying to justify it. Last year he took the position that Belichick the personnel man will miss Pioli, then went about proving his case by citing BB-Pioli draft misses. Lost me there.

Gasper is a child who has been dazzled by the sportswriter-becomes-media-celebrity syndrome afflicting sports journalism in America and is trying to run before he can walk. He hasn't paid his dues.

Oh man...did you just walk into my wheelhouse, Tunes. Every time Buckley is on EEI I leave a blurb on the Whiner Line...the only calls of mine they NEVER let on...why?...could it be because he's managed to sucker some publishing house to print that boring collection of anecdotes he uses on air to anesthetize the audience? Hack-becomes-faux-journalist-becomes-unbearable pontificant.Sargasso Sea Tomase...the raging chihuahua Mazzerotti...Blabba the Gutt Gresh..."Plagerism For Fun And Profit!" Borges...it's become more than a syndrome, it's become an epidemic.

A few definitions to clarify what a sports columnist is;

Reporter = a person employed by a newspaper, magazine, or television company to gather and report news

Columnist = a journalist who writes editorials

Editorial = An article in a publication expressing the opinion of its editors or publishers.

In other words, these hacks are not reporters, they have no responsibility to report accurately. The only responsibility they have is to attract attention to the publication they are employed by.

They have no responsibility to the subject they 'write' the story about. They obviously have no respect for the readers of the story, if they did they wouldn't use 'Homer' in such a derogatory manner. As if a sports fan shouldn't root for their own team.

I would much rather they stick to the facts and try to keep their own warped opinions to themselves. As if they could hold even a low level team position in any sport. :bricks:
