ESPN's Chris Mortensen confirms that the Jets are "discussing" signing free agent Adalius Thomas.

The Jets' pre-draft addition of Jason Taylor apparently hasn't killed their interest in another aging outside linebacker. Taylor, though, is only slated to play 30 or so snaps per game, and Rex Ryan is a believer in Thomas' talent. Together, they'd easily be an upgrade over incumbent OLB Bryan Thomas.

Double gain if the Jets sign him, strengthen us by subtraction, and get a bad player on the field for our competition.

Can't wait for the Vollmer pancake of AD.

Smart move imo by the jets

Go right ahead.

Won't be shocked when he picks up right where he left off in Baltimore. Ryan knows how to use him. And with their secondary potentially being pretty damn good, it will be a hell of lot easier to get sacks than it was in New England. In fact, the Jets signing Thomas would really make this rivalry fun to watch.

Ryan will just send him after the quarterback on every down. I doubt he'll have as many coverage responsibilities in that defense as he did in our's. Regardless though, I do agree that he'll be better with the Jets than he was with us.

That was my whole point. And like I said, it helps to have a lock down CB in Revis and potentially good play from Cromartie and Wilson.

As expected

Re: Jets are "discussing" signing free agent Adalius Thomas.

Thomas thrived under Ryan, add to that he's ex divisional rival and it's a shrewd bit of business for the Jests. Thomas became a bad apple here for one reason or another, now he'll be in a new locker room and potentially under a coach and system he thrived in.

They aren't "discussing" it, I've always held the opinion it would be a formality should we cut him.

Rex is asking Goodell if he could have 95 players on the opening day roster.

Re: Jets are "discussing" signing free agent Adalius Thomas.

Hopefully he'll bring his cancerous influence into their locker room.

If this happens, it will great move by the Jets alright...for us.

Re: Jets are "discussing" signing free agent Adalius Thomas.

Not fussed. Personality clash or not being benched and playing like a pansy only reflects poorly on Adalius Thomas and Adalius Thomas only. I'd love for the Jets to sign him. LdT, Holmes, Edwards, Thomas and the rest of the gang in the same locker room. They better hope they go better than 9-7 in the regular season.

I don't buy into people saying it will be easier to get sacks. The Jets showed a small ability to get sacks last season and it will be the same this year. What they have been able to do under Rex Ryan is create match ups and pressure schemes that hurried QB's. Brady picked it apart and so did Manning. People are underestimating that the NFL has had a season to see how Ryan's Jets work. It will be far easier the scheme against them this season now the Cinderella period is over.

Thanks for your contribution Adalius. I wished it were more but you simply weren't man enough to take that responsibility on your shoulders and run with it as one of the remaining veterans.

Thomas becoming a Jet was the expected outcome for many of us, so this comes as no surprise.

Problem with that is he sucks at rushing the QB.
If he was any good at it any more none of these problems would have occured.
Too many people are overlooking the central issue.
Thomas was stripped of pass rushing duties, Thomas was unhappy, and Thomas is no longer a Pat because of LACK OF ABILITY.

If the Jets have him rushing the passer, they have a bad player in that role.

We thought the INK would be dry on his release papers first:)

And for all the talk of this great locker room, they sure seem to be doing a lot of b*tching about Leon and Faneca. Easy for Rex to be a player's coach when he didn't have to make those tough HC decisions.

His success was a long time ago, with skills that had not eroded.
