Wouldn't mind seeing Henderson signed. Could be a Ngata-type 3-4 DE: 6'7", 335 lbs. Gets a few sacks every year and also is known for batting down passes. If the Pats think he can play a 3-technique and still be effective, then I wouldn't be surprised if they get into a bidding war for him. He's always given Brady nightmares with those bat-downs; I remember back when the Pats played the Jags in 2006, I think, Belichick had some guys in practice hold up different things at the line to stimulate Henderson's arms.

Hmmmm......always liked Henderson. Is this going to be another border war with T-Rex?

Got my eye on Greg Ellis possibly getting the axe,too...........this is shaping up to be one,d-mn-fine,offseason.:rocker:

A Henderson, Wilfork, Warren line would be absolutely devestating.

Gotta think that JH would be getting a good contract somewhere. Hes still a very good player.

Isn't Ellis already released? Plus he is an OLB in the 3-4. I think you mean Shaun Ellis. I would agree that if Shaun Ellis is released, he would be a good addition.

Isn't Henderson a little too big to play DE? Yes, Nata does play DE in spot duty and Wilfork played DE in certain games, but they are rare exceptions. I don't think either guy could play DE full time over a 16 game season.

sorry...mixed-up Shaun with Gregg.....or was that the Brady bunch,we were talking about?
(I'm on Draft overload....synapses are firing uncontrollably).:bricks:

Henderson would be fine at DE in a 3-4. Not fine as DE ina 4-3 (unless in a short yardage situation of course).

Nata does the same thiing w/ Kelly Gregg playing the NT spot in the 3-4

Henderson and Stroud both gone. I remember when Jags fans loved saying how they had the two best DTs in the league on the same team. Now they get rid of 'em both in like 5 years...

Henderson looks more like Richard Seymour than any other player in the league. He can't run as well as Seymour and he has back problems, but he's still a force.

I'd love to see him on the Patriots.

Recently had knee surgery. The Jags had tendered him and then withdrew it. I'm not sure the Jets even CAN sign him, since he's a FA.

why would he be released then?? if if he is still a "force"?

Part of it is uncertainty about his knee, and part of it is likely that it is the magical time of year when coaches become so enamoured of their draft picks they throw the babies out with the bath-water.

They drafted Terrence Knighton last year, and Tyson Alualu and i think 3 other d-linemen this year. My guess is that he's older and they don't want to sink any more money into him for a year or two when that time could be spent giving their young dlinemen experience.

I think they drafted Price from UCLA also.....They have a ton of DT's now so they just don't want his big salary....

I really would love to have him on the pats as I think he can still be a force and with the players we have if he is injured we could let him rest and wait until he is fully healthy......He would also give us experienced insurance for Vince as he could play the nose in the 3-4 as well......

There could be upside in grabbing this cat for two years, if we're targeting a long-term DE in next year's draft.

I think you bring him in, then you have him compete with Warren (Gerard), Wright, Lewis, and Brace for minutes. I'm starting to feel better and better about our 3-4 RDE spot.

Looking like there will be a significant about of cuts this offseason. Hopefully the Pats are able to get some quality vets from other teams without giving anything up.

Sign Henderson to a 1 year deal.

I think our DE of the future will come with that Oakland pick next year. He sounds like a fine stopgap till then

I'd imagine there will be more than one team out there offering him a better chance to start than New England.
