Tate should be given a great chance for the #3 spot, Spikes just took McKenzie's job! Unless they move Guyton to OLB I dont see him doing better than replacing Alexander on ST....every year we try to get rid of that guy and he is STILL HERE....another guy with naked pics of BB.

Mayock said it again today, Tate was FIRST ROUND caliber taken in the 3rd due to the injury. Hope he is right.

I'm not aware any are still injured. If they're healthy in camp they can win a job.

McKenzie should be part of of the rotation, spikes is a 2 down player. He reminds me of of TJ.

Tate has to preform, bottom line is they will give every chance but they have other returners coming in that will take his position, I do not see him being a defensive special teams ace. I do like his potnetial.

Crable has atleast another year, he has scarey physical ability. He may be a wimp when he gets a bobo but he can rush the passer. He has the ability but does he have the desire.

Cunningham will press him as will woods, but we need more then Cain rushing the passer.

Where is Don Blackmon when you need him, talk about being over shadowed by Tippet....

Tate has a huge upside. Don't forget McKenzie was a tackling machine in college. Pats covered themselves very well there with the Spikes pick though.

Crable, sadly, may never stay healthy.

If the best happened and they hit on all three, get ready for Dallas in February.

I loved the McKenzie pick at the time and I still love it now. The kid is fantastic...went to 3 different colleges so he could look after his mother, and produced at each one.

Crable...who knows. Let's just get him on the field and see what he can do.

Tate I don't really have a feel for. He played a bit last season but the glories of TV camera angles meant it was pretty difficult to focus in on him. Much easier to stare in wonder at the excellence that was Vollmer.

I'm looking forward to seeing what McKenzie can do. If he comes through, it'll give us a very young, but strong ILB rotation.

As for Tate and Crable who knows. They are both loaded with potential and can certainly contribute if they can stay healthy.

With Moss and Holt on the roster, we shouldn't expect too much from Tate this year. Next year the space will clear for him to step up, and he'll move into year three, in which he either gets it or never will. He deserves two more years to show what he can do.

Ditto for McKenzie. At the least if healthy, he has special teams potential and may be a good depth player.

Crable - he's been around now enough to know his role and be able to step in and contribute. If he gets the chance and doesn't play solid football, goodbye.

The best thing is that these three guys are the equivalent of rookies right now - but rookies with time in the system under their belt. If any of them make decent contributions this year, the depth on this team will be exceptional.

I'd add Wheatley to the list. We're not counting on any of them. We hope for contributions but brought in draftees at all of their positions.

He had the fastest 3 cone of all LBs.
Also had 4 ints, 2 for TDs.
So asking him to cover a slot wr wont work.
But asking him to play the hook zone should be ok.

This "professional special teamers" bullshirt has had me steamed for a while.

Stand and deliver Eric Alexander, Slater et all. Nothing wrong with a new guy using teams to fight his way on. Maybe become an All Pro like Rembert.

You need one ST Captain, then I'd love to see a cut throat competition to make the squad at backed up positions. Always improved team competitiveness, IMO. If you suck at playing football otherwise, but are so good at teams you're indispensable, then so be it. Prove it.

I was always fine with Whigham and then with Izzo and Davis. My gut says the limit should be two "ST only" players. We had way too many last year.

I suspect that Slater and Aiken are competing for one such spot, as are Lockett and Arrington. I suppose that if Crable doesn't make the squad Alexander and Murrell could compete for that roster spot.

Not sure why McKenzie is characterized as having a history of injuries, when he never had an injury until rookie minicamp. On top of that he will have had what, sixteen months of rehab to recover?

I'm not discounting the fact that this kind of injury reduces the probability of a player being effective and productive in the NFL. On the other hand there are plenty of players (e.g., Edgerrin James) that have had what was presumed to be career ending injuries that went on to prove their critics wrong.

In my opinion it's way too early to write McKenzie off. I'd say treat him like another fourth-round draft pick: his original third minus one round for the injury.
