I didn't think he would make it this far, he's going to create a lot of problems if used properly. He's clearly a better choice than Pitta for this offense but much like Everson Griffen, he's a guy with talent that far exceeds where he was drafted.

love that pick. Can't wait to see Brady throwing to him for TDs.

I like the pick. Gronk is a possible Witten-type TE and (from what Ive read) Hernandez is a possible D. Keller-type TE(passing only). I like the pick also to let Gronk know that the job isnt necessarily his. This should be a great competition in TC

We be needin' an official TE's coach... They say Hernandez was Tebow's safety valve but he hasn't run many routes. I had a feeling we might go two TE's because Crumpler may not be here more than a season and may be the primary blocking TE/6th OLman.

Great value pick.

Love this pick. Great catching te. Let's just hope it doesn't turn into a Dave Thomas situation and BB loses patience with him.

Patrick Chung is now in second place on the team for most tattoos.

A Clark/Keller type is something new for this offense. Fascinated to see how they use him.

I wish PFW In Progress was on at 11 instead of 2 this afternoon. I wanna know what draft guru, big head Andy Hart has to say 'bout this pick. That guy kills me. That whole crew of 4 kills me. Fat Fred dropping f-bombs on air, portly Paul Perillo the curmudgeon who hates the fans, and passive artist Erik Scalivino, who takes all the abuse lying down.
And what's this with THREE Florida Gators being taken in a row? It's gonna be The New England Gators now. When's the last time an NFL team has ever drafted 3 consecutively from the same school? Possibly never.

I'm a Gator fan and Hernandez's route running was a big positive for him headed into this daft...

National Football League: NFL Draft 2010 - Aaron Hernandez

Anyway, this selection really fills two needs: TE and WR. Hernandez can line up as a TE but is a liability in blocking. He can also line up as a WR/H-Back. He's going to create A LOT of match-up problems for opposing defenses. I'm loving the way our offense is looking right now and that's even before Welker comes back. I just want to see one more pass rusher and a move made outside the draft for a viable DE (I have my doubts about Lewis) and this draft will be great.

Value is good.

But again, I don't understand why we keep stockpiling TEs when they're the 4th or 5th option in the offense we run.

What, is Florida our farm team now?

I don't think Hernandez is like David Thomas. I'd compare him more to Garrett Mills - which is why I wasn't sure the Pats would select a TE under 6'3". But I like this guy a lot. He's bigger and more athletic that Mills. Hopefully it'll work out much better.

I'd say these picks make it clear that that it was Watson and Baker who were 5th options.

It wasn't so long ago when it was considered standard Pats Draft 101 that Belichick loves him some TE.

For one, O'Brien has said that he wants to include the TE much more in our offense. For another, this selection really fills two needs. Hernandez is a guy that should be able to come in and start right away. He's going to make an impact this year.

Stole my thunder, I was about to say... reminds me of the Garrett Mills pick. Hopefully they can figure out how to use him.

And 3 Gators now? Holy BB.

Perhaps it was the players not the position that caused the lack of throws.

That could be but Ben Watson used to be a favored target of Brady until the "jump ball to covered Moss" or "dump off to Welker" become more desirable.
With teams like the Jets bringing the heat on every play, I like the idea of adding blockers and short yardage pass catchers.

Taylor Price of Ohio is blocking that claim to fame, as he was chosen after Spikes and before Hernandez
