What, one good draft day and all of you b1tches head for the hills? What, nothing to say now that BB might not have "lost it"? Gee, please come back with an 86 page thread about Dez Bryant.

I've been lurking for a long time now because I can't stand to post amongst the gripers-for-the-sake-of-griping. This board has been in need of some serious moderation lately, and for some reason it's been absent. Maybe BB has provided it himself.

Yeah, I know I'm just a stupid homer and GFY and whatnot.

Welcome to the new Pats!

Well Said.

I wasn't a McCourty fan at first, but we did need CB depth and if he truly is a ST demon, then it's all good on that front.

The 2nd round picks I love especially Gronk. Bill seems to really like the Taylor Price selection as well. If he can battle Tate for 3rd/4th WR, it can only help.

Have to say as the consummate homer, that everything would look very good on paper as the draft progressed... a thread amongst a lot of these kids is they are all team captains.

I will say with all hyperbole AND sincerity that today was the best day the Pats have had in several years.

A well thought-out and reasoned editorial comment, and a rare occurrence on this board lately. The answer to your question, I believe, is this: most, if not all, of the "b1tchers" have their vitriol rooted in the fact that, deep down, they really aren't Pats fans at all. They remind me of most of the New England media who are convinced that the very worst thing anyone can be called is a "homer". Better to be labeled a convicted pedophile, domestic abuser or rapist.

Funny - when I clicked on the PatsFans website, I thought I heard crickets.......

I still wonder about the approach taken in the draft by BB, but I always come back with the realization that he knows a hell of a lot more than I do. It will be interesting to see how quickly these players pick up the system. We could have a real young, exciting hard hitting defense.

Perfect question. The kvetching started long before the first pick, but now the sound of crickets fills the air and a lovely sound it is.

Maybe some think in their need to be "edgy" there is a need to replicate the vitriol of Borges, Donaldson, D&C and Felger is a preferred personna.

Welcome to the new Pats!

hey there were a lot of us including myself that were less than thrilled after day 1. Can you blame us? We've been talking about getting an edge rusher all off season, which was the biggest need, and end up with a CB. I myself was not upset about passing up an OLB in round 1 but Dez Bryant or Demarius THomas, potential gamebreakers.

1. I didn't like the first pick and still don't.

2. I'm still around and was celebrating yesterday.

3. Been called a homer and a Bill-truster by many of the same people blasting the *****ers.

4. Never been called a non-Pats-fan or questioned on my loyalty before.

5. It's confusing.

6. Can we all act like men?

the simple fact is that no one knows how any of the drafted players will turn out. *****ing and moaning about who was or wasn't drafted is just ridiculous. It's a crap shoot to begin with.

What I do know is that the Pats went in with 1 first and 3 seconds no thirds..drafted 4 players in the first 2 round and somehow came out with a third this year and another 2nd next year...that is a win in anyone's eyes.

I was one of the *****ers, and I'm still here, haven't gone anywhere, went to a party, so wasn't around to discuss rounds 2 and 3. And people who think those who *****, aren't Pat's fans are sorely mistaken. I've been a huge Pats fan since 1975. We ***** due to the fact that we WANT the Pats to succeed and WANT the Pats to draft great players to make the Pats champions again. And I know I know I have been negative about the Pat's drafting in the past, but it has been warrented, when you draft ONE Pro Bowl player in the last 5 years, your drafting prowess can be questioned. The record speaks for itself, BB has not drafted well these last 5 years, quite often trying to be the mad scientist by trying to outsmart the NFL, only to wind up outsmarting himself, and failing terribly in the draft. 50-60 some odd draft picks since 2004, and only ONE Pro Bowl/all star quality player, I don't think I need to prove my point anymore.

That being said, I liked what they did in day 2, though once again, the moves can be questioned. I loved the Gronk pick, but, he has injury questions, and, do the Pats ever use the TE as a weapon ? Will he be fast enough to get open ? On a team that actually throws to a TE, this guy can be a beast, but on the Pats ? Hopefully he becomes the next Ben Coates.

Jermaine Cunningham, once again, was he a reach like Mccorty ? With other more talented players who play his position still on the board, did we get good value with this pick ? I like his size/speed ratio, but that's only IF he can make that transition to OLB. I think he was a reach, and the worst pick of day 2, hopefully I'm wrong, but history has not been kind to BB with this kind of reach.

Brandon Spikes, I loved this pick. He's a tackling machine, slot him next to Mayo (if Spikes earns it), and we should be set for years at ILB. BUT, this kids 40 time is done with a freaking sun dial. He's another big IF. Oddly enough, if he had come out last year, he would have been a first round pick, but his senior year hurt him. We shall see.

Taylor Price, once again, I'm sure he's a nice kid, has decent size and speed, but were better receivers there at that time ? Yes there were. Was this a reach ? Some had him rated no higher than a 4th round pick. Most had him rated 5th to 6th round. So I'm not so high on this pick.

Now we come to trading for 2011 picks. My question is, will there even be a 2011 draft ? Will there be a 2011 season ? It's kinda risky to do with so many question marks. Is trading a 3rd round pick in a very deep draft for a 2nd round pick in a much weaker draft a smart move ? We shall see.

So there ya go, I give this draft a C rating so far. Did we address needs and holes we have, yeah, did we pick the right players for theses needs ? Hopefully the past doesn't repeat itself, BB's drafts have been terrible. Hopefully these guys pan out, but obviously I think they could have done better.

SOME of us dont have to ACT. I went from hating the CB pick to understanding it now to FEARING it! Guess what guys---name the last 2 Pats First round picks who wore #21?? Reggie Dupard AND Chris Canty, the 2 worst first round busts in team history!! Man, I knew I was right the first time.

"We've been talking about" - That's the telling part of your post. There is a group of Patriot fans that appear to live in their fantasy football world and seem to think they have insights into the inner workings of professional football and should have direct input into the decision making process of the Patriots Corporation. Some people need to relax and enjoy the way this wonderful first class organization operates. We can and should debate the tactics of the front office. We can question the decisions, both big and small, of the coaches (even BB); but in the end we are all just fans of a great team and organization. The hysteria that seems to so often infect discussion threads is pathetic.

So like I said in the "rebuilding year" thread yesterday - chill out; have a few beers, and enjoy the show. So far this has been a great draft. And didn't it feel great when the Pats got Carolina's 2011 second yesterday?

No, we don't see, there is a 2011 Draft, which you'd know if you had even a clue about the game.

That was never in doubt reading the rest of your post though.

They're not b1tchers....they just don't understand the process. They like bright, flashy lights (Dez Bryant) to hold and capture their attention.

Most of them thought the draft ended Thursday night and were giving their expertise analysis on Friday morning (this includes football know nothing Callahan on EEI). They all assumed they were slightly better at player personnel than Bill Belichick (who was once again the master of the draft board).

The new theme is similar to the old theme (circa 2003). Draft true Patriot type players. Players that will bring football "smarts", energy and enthusiasm, and ready to go to war.

This is the kind of post that cracks me up.:singing:

You're basing your moaning off of scouting reports made by guys who make guesses. Not one reason you stated is something I couldn't pull off Scout.com.

All hail the draft "experts". Quoting them makes me smart.

Welcome to the new Pats!

Who are reminding me a little bit of the old Pats; I've got the urge to watch a 3GTG DVD if you know what I mean. Trench warfare might just be back!
