First, sorry to not have started this thread earlier. NO, I didnt want him but I suggest BB did! Did anyone besides me see all the coincidences that lined up in in a near-miss to Tebow? Never mind the talking heads just look at the draft order and the order of the trades. We sat still til #22 before trading down, if we had wanted Gresham plenty of mocks had him going before us and we had the ammo to jump up to get him. We pass trading back to 24....The Broncos traded down from 11 to 13 to 22 and take the WR. Seeing this, we continue to trade back to 27 when for some immediate reason Denver trades back up to 25!! Who picks in the next few picks?
26-cards-nope
27-pats-HMMM
28-Dophins-not likely with 2 new QBs
29-Jest-new QB last year
30-Lions-new QB last year
31-Colts-maybe
32-NO-nope
Seeing their target of Bryant go just before them to Dallas the Ravens stab BB in the back(we return the favor with Gronk!) and Denver uses almost all their picks gained in 2 trades to trade back up to 25....what they gave up made those 2 other trades insignificant....they WANTED Tebow there before someone else....and we ended up with another small CB. Makes too much sense to me for there not to be some truth to it. The order which it happened isnt coincidental is it? Does anyone really buy that we wanted a CB in the first round?? I'm telling you we came II this close to actually making it UF north around here this week. I feel like we dodged a bullet, anyone else? NOW maybe that little CB isnt so bad.....Conspiracy theory or totally plausible?

Let me also add the fact that in a interview Tebow aknowledged at least 2 teams and he knew the area of the draft where he was told he was to be taken. He has no reason to lie. Fact is you can sign a first rd pick for 5 years and a 2nd rounder to only 4(pretty sure this is still in effect). For a developmental guy like Tebow the cost effectiveness of a 5 yr deal would mean he would have to be taken in the first. We were at 27, not likely trading back between there and 32. Smoke, smoke, smoke. Here is the link to the trade order....

I'm sorry man, but that has to be the dumbest thing I've read in awhile now. First off, your entire "theory" is built off assumptions which could never be proven true or false. Secondly, you base it off opinions, which I can tell from your wording of McCourty.

Jeff - you clearly didn't pay attention to any of the Belichick interviews. He came out and stated that McCourty was going to be their man at 22 except that Denver called them about a trade. It was only 2 slots and the Pats were confident that the Packers weren't going with a corner.

BB also said much the same about the Dallas trade, though it was slightly more risky.

It's also come out that Baltimore only had Bryant listed for their first round. It's why they traded down (and got less value). In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Broncos/Baltimore deal was done prior to the Dez Bryant pick and contingent on Bryant not being there.

I think the Patriots don't like to take chances in the first round and they felt McCourty was the BPA. With the cost of 1st rounders being what it currently is it sure seems like a sound strategy. Plus, I lived through the Earthwind Moreland/Kato Serawanga years there can NEVER be enough good CB's in my mind. You can thank Bill Polian for that.

Pinochio could walk through any draft war room unnoticed! Do you really want to say to your first round pick..."Hey, we were trying for Tebow but lost, so we took you"?? THATS DUMB. Of course they lie. They were confident that Tebow's value wasnt at 22. 22 to 27 he was confident Tebow would be there, the trades hapenned VERY quickly on their clock, look it up. Explain to me why Denver gave up a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rd picks to get exactly right there before us?? Name a team that would have taken him there. You cant.

Baltimore was jumped by Dallas to get Bryant with our #24! Get your facts straight! This isnt that hard to follow folks. I dont have a signature from BB but that is the unwritten rule. After figuring this out I have gone back and took back all the venom I let out on the CB selection we did yesterday. But man, I know you are a hater, if you want to follow my post please at least try to follow the bouncing ball. I have no horses in this race. I am now HAPPY to get the CB. Ever hear me go back on anything I have said before? That is how certain I am of this and its only a matter of time before other people figure it out. Sorry. PS-dont play poker with BB....

Let's make a deal: Follow all draft trades

Here is the link that lists the trades and the order that they happened. Read from BOTTOM TO TOP. It draws a pretty neat and simple picture if you read between the lines. If you cant, explain why Denver, having just picked at 22, jumped back up giving up a 2nd, 3rd and 4th round hard earned picks at 25 besides the fact that it was 2 spots in front of us. Look at the teams around us there.....maybe there was a rumor sent to Josh and it wasnt true and he was fooled....otherwise what other explanation is there? These are not stupid people, they dont trade randomly. I base it on the fact that you know BB is lying. Period. Wont be the first time and wont be the last.

I love your crazy theories and the ensuing reactions. Keep em coming.:rocker:

The best part is the Patriots had absolutely ZERO need for Teblow. None. Zero.

You could give BB 100 picks in this draft and Saint Timmy wouldn't have been one of the picks.

IDK. If you want to talk "conspiracy", it might be just as plausible to hypothesize that BB and McDaniels worked the mis-information scheme cooperatively to ensure that they both got their guys.

OK, not enough proof for you. Lets take it one step further. We just traded with Denver 22-24. Now we have 27, but the Broncos trade back up to 25! If we werent after the same guy why not CALL US AGAIN and take him at 27? Tebow was NOT going to Arizona who had pick 26! Every spot in the first round costs money and precious picks, saving 2 spots in the first round(a 4th rd pick isnt given away) and knowing BB is a wheelin dealin fool.....I'm telling you these arent tea leaves. Was it a bluff? Considering the type of person Tebow is we arent going to ask the boyscout to lie about this stuff right? Torn between the mentor and the pupil will put that funny smirk on Tebow's face. Add to that the first round extra year on the contract, this simply had to be....Josh isnt stupid, he didnt trade all the way to that exact spot for nothing....

Is it possible? Sure. But it's also possible the Broncos thought someone else was trying to trade up for Tebow.

Listen - You've already proven that you care more about your BS than actual facts.. I have my facts straight. YOU are the one who can't be bothered to check your facts. I've proven that a half dozen times just in the past 2 days.

You're right. You've never admitted to being wrong in your existence on this board. Not once. Even when you've been proven wrong.

My statement regarding the Broncos/Ravens trade stands. It was contingent on Bryant not being available. And we already know you haven't bothered to think that maybe other teams didn't want to trade with Denver. That does happen you know. And it's much more plausible than this idiocy of the Pats wanted Tebow just because Peter King said so.

When are you ACTUALLY going to think logically and not base 90% of your garbage on assumptions and hypotheticals and crappy reviews of the real facts?

One can never know....I'm just glad we didn't get him. Nightmare scenario avoided.

I do thank BB for that, no major projects...no workout warriors...it could be a lot worse. I do think he could hav gotten cunningham later and picked up an extra 4th which would have come in very handy.

I think BB learned a hard lesson for trading up for bethel and jackson...workout warriors with questionable maturity, intelligence, toughness.

Not that tebow was a workout warrior, far from it, he's a project though....

Not "confirmation" by any means, but Jamie Dukes basically said the same thing on the NFL network. Talking tubs of goo I dont listen to either, but like I said the truth should come out at some point. I hope McChicken does better than any of the other Pats first rounders wearing #21.....

We would not of traded #27 thats why. BB targeted McCourty & he knew he wouldn't be there if he traded out of the 1st. ( & he was right, the rest of the good CB's went very fast after we selected )

I do think BB wanted Tebow & might have taken him if he fell to the late 2nd.

Also Balt was more than likely the last viable trading partner left in the 1st, GB wasnt gonna trade down with Bulaga on the board, Miami alrdy traded down & wouldnt give up the 1st, the Jets never trade down, the Colts never trade period etc.

Because the Pats wanted to take McCourty at 27. They were ready to pick him at 22, but they felt waiting to 27 was long enough. If the Pats traded down to round 2 with another trade with Denver, McCourty would not have lasted that long, particularly when you consider the run of CBs to end the 1st round. And I think BB predicted that run.

And just a few corrections.

1) McCourty is 5'11, 193 lbs. He's not 'small'. Ty Law was the exact same height.

2) The Broncos could not be SURE that Arizona wouldn't take Tebow at 26. Who's their QB now? Warner has retired and Leinart has FAILED repeatedly to secure the starting QB role. He's their QB by default only because they don't have anything better.

3) As for your conspiracy theory. Was BB also on the Grassy Knoll?

One flaw in your thinking is that Minnesota owned the 30th pick when Denver traded up to take Tebow. I would say that if you are going to talk about likely landing spots for Tebow, Minnesota would be on the list ahead of New England.

I never bought that BB was interested in Tebow, but I really find it unlikely that he 1. Targeted Tebow in the first round and 2. Traded down twice and ended up missing out on his guy.

Minnesota had been one of the possible places mentioned as a landing spot for him...they traded out of the first round after Tebow was drafted by Denver, too much of a coincidence to not have wanted to use that pick on him.

Jeff, here's the fundamental problem: you're not reading the evidence to come up with a theory, you're starting with a fixed belief and then trying to make the evidence fit. If you started off objectively, there's no way you'd conclude they were hot for Tebow. He was there, and they passed.

Meanwhile all of the evidence points very neatly and logically in a different direction.

- Mike Reiss, probably the one reporter closest to the Pats organization, predicts their #22 pick as Kareem Jackson. It's a surprise pick, both because of the position and because most "experts" had Kyle Wilson rated higher. Jackson is a heady but physical corner, a coach-on-the-field type who is strong against the run and who comes from a college coach with strong ties to BB.

- As it turns out, Houston nabs Jackson at #20.

- At #22, the Patriots trade down.

- At #27, just ahead of a bunch of teams likely to draft CBs, the Patriots choose Devin McCourty (over Kyle Wilson). McCourty is -- stop me if you've heard this before -- a heady but physical corner, a coach-on-the-field type who is strong against the run and who comes from a college coach with strong ties to BB.

Seriously, doesn't that fit the evidence a heck of a lot better?

Bingo.

Buffalo had put out a smokescreen that they were interested (and apparently weren't) but Minnesota at 30 was probably taking him, and I would not have put it past Jacksonville to deal a future #1 and multiple other picks to have gotten him in the same area.

Denver was tight with Tebow, and he likely leveled with them what his impressions were of who was most likely to move into position to draft him.

We will likely never know the truth, but the idea that the Patriots were set on picking Tebow at #27 seems far-fetched to me.

Well that All access piece pretty much clears up my conspiracy theory. Not a bad theory mind you, as the truth is harder to come by on draft day than good ball player. Sorry, my bad.
