How Is Everson Griffen Still Available?

Seriously, does he have leprosy? Did he assault every GM who talked to him? I don't get it. He's got unbelievable athletic ability, was successful in a big time program, and while I understand the questions regarding his work ethic, motor, and committment, I don't think he should have dropped this far. He looks like a clone of Willie McGinnest, and even if he has a 10 cent head, it doesn't take a genius to rush the passer.

I can't think of a metaphor or simile that does his drop in value justice, does anyone have any news/idea why teams are avoiding him like the plague? In any case, if he is on the Pats board I hope they move up to grab him tomorrow. He's the epitome of a value pick at this point.

Except, you know, he can drop into coverage, is good against the run, has a clear understanding of his defensive responsibilities, and has a pretty decent motor (don't just read reports--actually watch him play, and you'll see him hustle all day long).

I know you like Hardy. Heck, I love Hardy. But Griffen fits our defense better, and would be a great developmental guy to pair with Cunningham.

I would LOVE to trade up for him in Round 4. Him and Cunnigham would certainly help boost the pass rush. Griffen is a first-round pick without the motor questions. Fits the BB OLB prototype at 6'3 268 and a 4.65 40. Loved his higlight reel.

I would target the Redskins- they only have 4 picks total. Give them 1 or 2 7ths to trade up from 113 to 103??

I heard from one of the guys who reviews game tape (So I'll take his word for it), that almost every sack he had in his career was when he was singled up against a TE or RB.

I don't see what he'd provide.

No he can't, no he isn't, possibly, no he doesn't.

I heard from one of the guys who reviews game tape (So I'll take his word for it), that almost every sack he had in his career was when he was singled up against a TE or RB.

I don't see what he'd provide.

I just watched a 10 minute video of him and you have a point. He wasn't overly productive, didn't dominate OTs and mostly picked up garbage tackles. He wasn't great 1-on-1 or in open space.

I still think they should move up to draft him.

His athletic ability is unquestionable, he's top notch. He is also VERY raw. He didn't get sacks off of OTs but he did consistently collapse the pocket and force the QB to step up. He definitely makes poor reads, and takes bad angles but that stuff can be corrected. His tackling technique is sub par but again, something that can be corrected. I thought his motor was a problem but from what I saw he fights to the end of every of play. He can effectively set the edge and hold his own on the double team.

In a word, he's a project but there is great potential here.

Believe me, if we take him in round 4, I won't be too upset, but there's probably guys out there I'd rather have. He always looks off-balance to me moving backwards or laterally, and it seems he takes plays off. I question whether he can function as an OLB.

Hey guys new to the board. I said the same thing to some of my friends and couldn't believe he is still available. I watched him play a lot last year because the Trojans are the local team. He's very gifted and would think someone would take the risk.

I think he's a waste of a pick, he had chances to play all four years he was at USC and he was never able to secure or hold onto the starter spot until what, his senior year? Where he was being moved in and out anyways.. He was blessed with amazing genetics and had the closest thing to an NFL ready body upon entering college. He failed to take advantage of his situation and I highly doubt he's going to be motivated to do anything.

Not a huge fan of his, but at this point would still be very good value. I'd actually prefer Lane or Wooton.

I would disagree with this. He had an excellent game against Notre Dame, and got pressure/knockdowns/sacks by beating OLs, including two draftable prospects in OT Sam Young and G/C Eric Olsen.
