@mrs75: Riding in car with @wilfork75 he is very excited about spikes pick been talking about him all day. says this guy is a play maker

Vince is high on him...that should be a good sign for the Patriots

Been a Gator fan for 10 years.

I've seen every UF football game for the last eight years.

Brandon Spikes is my favorite Gator defensive player ever. If he comes close to replicating what he was at Florida, Pats fans will love him.

Good perspective. When watching Gator games on tv he ALWAYS seemed around the ball.

For speed purposes, they may want to keep him at his current weight. The 40 time is high but the kid can flat-out play. Hes nasty too. He had an eye-gouging issue last year vs I forget who...

had a bad groin pull last year.......Kiper neglected to mention this..........4 int returns for TD lat 2 yrs.

Didnt know that. Good info.

I liked Spikes regardless of what Count Chocula says.

And that's just it. He's got superlative defensive instincts. By the time most 4.55 MLBs figure out where the play is headed, Spikes has taken two steps towards the hole.

Exactly. It's the same as McCourty having poor ball skills.

I would rather have a corner with with bad ball skills shutting down his WR than a ballhawk that's chasing his WR from behind towards the endzone.

Same thing for a LB.

I have had and still have questions about his motor. His junior year was his finest year and he seemed to take a step back last season in his senior year. Like everyoone else, I also have questions about his speed. However, the guy is one of the meanest and most nasty linebackers I have seen in some time. He is probably the best compliment to Mayo in this draft. If we can improve his motor, I love this pick. This is a solid draft so far.

1st complaint that I have heard about Spike's motor but you are down there so I'll believe it.

Either way, if he slacks, he sits. It's that simple.

This is my favorite pick so far.....

I remember seeing mock drafts last year (before Spikes decided to stay in school for 2009) that had Spikes going #15 in the first round.

Then again, they had Taylor Mays in the top 10.

I think Spikes is a productive playmaking ILB....

i love this pick.

Man, I so love this pick. I've been saying I hope they take him with their last pick in the second, and BB must have read that in here, cuz he did! haha...

Seriously, great pick, and overall, a very good (on paper) 2nd round. I can't complain one bit, as much as I was yesterday, when they bypassed Bryant. Good recovery BB!

INTs for TDs, great reactions, questionable speed -- are we describing Bruschi 2.0?

Success at UF hasn't really translated in the pros for the most part. That eye-gouging incident was ugly.

Brandon Siler was drafted in the 7th round, and he became a starter for San Diego this year.

Channing Crowder was picked in the 3rd round, and is a pretty good player for the Dolphins.

Andra Davis was drafted in the 5th or 6th round, and he's still in the league and playing pretty well nine years later.

As for the eye-gouging incident, would your opinion of Spikes change any if I told you that the Georgia player had spit on Spikes two plays earlier?

No...my opinion would stay the same. And my opinion is....that this guy is a gamer that the rest of the D will enjoy going to war with! The eye incident reminds me of something Rodney Harrison would have done.... and last I remember #37 was a pretty good player

Tremendous pick for the Patriots. The team now has the potential to go from woefully understaffed at ILB to being almost too deep. The battle between McKenzie and Spikes for first (and some second) down snaps should be fun to watch, and Guyton can focus on being a pass defending 3rd down type of linebacker.

Here's hoping these guys can all stay healthy!

I don't always agree with you Deus, but this time you are spot on!

The 2nd coming of Brian Cox, love this kid!
