Since it is tomorrow - let's start discussing possibilities for day two in this thread.

Possibilities for day 2: Draft a punter, another DB, a TE, and heck maybe even an offensive coordinator. :rocker:

Im messin around, hope they work the front 7 on defense and some offensive firepower.

I agree with drafting a punter but we also need to draft a holder in the 2nd round to maximize Jake Ingram's talents.

Now that would perfect our special teams.

You should be running the show!

Okay, in all seriousness olb and de MUST be addressed

de possibilities:
Arthur Jones
Linval Joseph
Lamarr Houston
Alex Carrington
Al Woods

olb possibilities:
Sergio Kindle
Everson Griffin
Koa Misi
Carlos Dunlap
Ricky Sapp
Austen Lane

Corey Wooton? Some have him as end, some as olb
I think he's too slow for linebacker, and too thin for end, maybe he could bulk up? I do like him.

Don't really have a preference for any of the ends listed, my guy was Alualu, can't believe he went so early.

As for the linebackers, I love Kindle, Dunlap, and Lane. I would be very happy if we could grab one. Dunlap was my original binky, hopefully his off field crap checked out. We'll see..

If the Pats come away with Kindle somehow tomorrow, Ill call it a win.

An absolute TON of guys as opposed to, say, CB where all the top guys are gone.

Anyway, in addition to your list there's a ridiculous group of WR left too. I'd love to get Benn or G. Tate, two from your list and in the 3rd get a RB like Hardesty.

TE, pass rushing OLB, and 3-4 DE. Fans froth at the mouth because one or both of the defenders will be too raw to be likely to contribute in 2010.

That's 3 picks. Pats will make 3-5 Day 2 picks total. Almost any position (including doubling-up on ones already taken) is a possibility.

If I had to pick one other position to guess they'll go for, it's RB.

Guard
Running Back
Defensive Tackle

We should just use all of our late picks on a pass rusher and find the best one. Probably gives us a better chance to find a good one, and we'll end up cutting players anyway. -)

I would like to see a two-dimensional offense led by Tom Brady. It works wonders and wins Super Bowls. Everyone points to the Welker injury and lack of WR depth for our offensive problems last year. Well, we finished 3rd in the NFL in points scored. Just imagine if we had a solid running game that other teams needed to respect.

Of all the positions on the field outside of QB, defensive line is the most important. You can't have enough good, quality players, and maybe there is someone out there resembling Seymour.

As for WR, Demaryious Thomas would have looked good in NE, but there are always plenty of productive WRs deep into the draft. I wouldn't mind seeing us grab one in round 2.

Great point.
I think a good analogy to use, to make some of the "jump off the Tobin Bridge types" come down from the edge is this:

You're in your fantasy football draft, you're in round 3 let's say, you already have a running back and a wr, there are only let's say 2 running backs left that you even think are worthy of starting on a weekly basis, but TONS of qbs left. You take the rb (assuming you're in a two rb start league, and a one qb start league...which I'm not lol) because you'll have plenty of opportunities at a good qb in the later rounds.

Now if we don't take a de and olb in round 2 then it's a different story and I'm jumping off the bridge with them.

I originally put this in at the end of the day one thread, but it really belongs here. This is a look at some of the players available Friday and who's picking when. Pats start the day out with the 12th, 15th, and 21st pick of the day.

QB: Clausen, McCoy
RB: Gerhart, McCluster, McKnight, Dwyer
TE: Gronkowski, ****erson, McCoy, Pitta, ****son, Hernandez, Graham
WR: Tate, Benn, Decker, LaFell, Williams, Briscoe, Shipley
OT: Saffold, Brown, Campbell, Ducasse, Jerry, Veldheer, Beadles
G/C: Asamoah

DL: Cody, Wooten, Price, Houston, Joseph
DE/OLB: Kindle, Griffen, Misi, Sapp, Dunlap, Carrington
LB: Washington, Lee, Bowman, Spikes
S: Mays, Allen, Burnett
CB: Murphy, Cook, Franks

Obviously the Pats aren't going to draft a QB here but it's worth noting, as picks such as those by other teams move the Pats closer to a player that they may want to grab.

2.34 - Vikings
2.35 - Bucs

I hear you - I have to work until 8pm tomorrow :explative

pats will for sure trade one of the 2nd rounders for a first or 2nd + something next yr.they wont pick all 4 IMO

Pats will probably pick a TE with one of our 2nd rounders. We'll trade another 2nd rd pick for a couple of later round picks (probably for a 3rd and a 4th round). Then the 3rd second rd pick will be for an interior OL.

Then we'll probably parlay one of our 3rd and a 4th for a veteran OLB or DE.

Sounds about right.

God I hope I'm wrong.

Make or break day for the Pats.....

If the Pats come away with Kindle somehow tomorrow, Ill call it a win.

Kindle has medical issues that include narcolepsy which is being treated with medication and ADD which is also being treated with medication... That may be why he fell. And it may be why he falls a ways farther or Bill passes on him.

I posted this in mg's thread but it really belongs here. Four players from this list (because so far Gosslin has been spot on) will be joining Devin McCourty as NEP. Clausen of course is not one of them. Areas of need appear to be DE, OLB, WR, TE, OL, RB. NE current picks are 44, 47, 53, 90. They will have several additional picks on Saturday beginning at 114. There are still quite a few OLB and DE candidates and TE's and WR's and OLmen and RB's available.

13. Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame
30. Rodger Saffold OT Indiana
32. Sergio Kindle OLB Texas

Bill apparently commented yesterday that the sweet spot for the Patriots this year is the second and third round.

Second and third round imo should be used to upgrade the front 7 on defense and some fire power for Brady, maybe even a punter.
