Can somebody help me here please. I watched that NFL pre-draft contest they had on ESPN the other night, and Dez Bryant competed (and won) in the WR drill contests.

It's the second time I've seen him interviewed. While, he's not going to win a smooth "how to conduct an interview" award, he did seem like a nice kid. He was yes sir, no sir. He smiled and said I'm just happy to be here with the other players. I didn't get all these bad vibes that you keep hearing about.

So, he lied when confronted on knowing D. Sanders? Big deal!

I just don't get out this negative press can drive him down like this. He didn't rob anybody. He doesn't do drugs, and in fact, he supposedly doesn't even drink. His teammates seem to like him.

Man do I hope this guy slides to us! In fact, even if the Pats jumped up a spot of two when he gets close, I'd be fine with that. The boy is a beast! I LOVE those rare "pluck the ball WRs". They usually turn into studs. He will be the next stud WR, and I'd love Tommy Boy to be throwing to him.

My question, what's his history of badness?

ya i dont get it either i dont see him as a bad egg really i would love him to be a pat

Bryant was "consistently late" for team activities.

Including games.

"Buyer beware" on Dez Bryant, too | ProFootballTalk.com

"We’re not just talking about being a little late for warmups, but like being late for the actual game,” a source said with a chuckle. “When you start to hear some of the stories of there, you go, ‘He did what?’ ”

“I wouldn’t draft that kid unless I had someone to wake him up in the morning to get to meetings, someone to wake him up for practice and someone to wake him up for games,” one source said.

Oops! Unless of course it was really a brokered meeting between Bryant and his agent to be under the cover of Deion Sanders umbrella.... :confused2:

If he fell to 22 and Kindle, Graham, Thomas, and Haden were all gone then I'd be all for taking him. He reminds me so much of Andre Johnson. REmember though (as has been discussed ad nauseum in the 2011 draft thread) next year's wr class looks to be quite amazing, and we did add Torry Holt for a year. So, if it's not the perfect fit, no need to force it.

Once again, Box is right! The reason that Bryant will not be a Patriot is his agent, Eugene Parker. Ask Seymour how much BB likes to work with Parker. Parker is the one who had Crabtree hold out last year (and unfortunately for whoever drafts Bryant, Crabtree played very well once he finally signed) so look for Bryant to ask for and hold out for top ten money regardless of where he gets drafted.

bryant makes no sense at all......

if it did, brandon marshall or anquan boldin would already be here

Did not realize he had the same agent as Crabtree, ugh that WILL get ugly, can probably scratch him off my list that seems to be changing a bit at the last minute.

I think $47 million has a lot to do with Marshall not being here.

According to a talking head on Sirius radio, Bryant had to line up on the side closest to the coaches so they could tell him what route to run. He is reported to be learning challenged.

On Tuesday, I spoke by telephone with a writer from the Miami (Fla.) Herald. He had several questions about Dez Bryant, the former Oklahoma State wide receiver. Apparently, there is a chance that the Miami Dolphins might select Bryant with the 12th pick in next week's NFL draft first round.

Because of Bryant's 2009 suspension (the result of having lied to an NCAA investigator), there is the perception that he has character issues. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. describes Bryant as a "diva," but it is my opinion that Bryant doesn't have character issues. He has maturity issues.

Those who really know Bryant insist that he doesn't have a malicious bone in his body. They say he isn't a party guy. Doesn't use alcohol or drugs. Unanimously, they agree that Bryant is an incredibly gifted playmaker. Just as unanimously, they agree that Bryant needs to grow up – that he is lacking in certain areas of basic adult responsibility.
Because of Bryant's maturity deficiencies, there is a risk for any team that drafts him. There also is the chance, however, that Bryant may emerge as the most dynamic performer in the 2010 draft.

My advice to any team would be this: If you are going to invest millions in Dez Bryant, then you need to invest additional money in someone who would serve as a big-brother mentor. Someone who could shield Bryant from leeches who want his money. Someone who would be a strong, positive and constant influence.

Funny that.

Mike and Mike were talking about him the other day and the only rap on him was he was ALWAYS late for meetings. D & C said the rap on him was his mom is a lesbian. BFD! If he's as good as promised , I'd grab him in a minute.

How many "learning challenged" Academic All Americans have you heard of?

I wanted Boldin as well but he will be 30 next season and he does take a beating.

as opposed to spending a first on bryant?

no thanks...I'll take the proven guy......I'll take the proven brandon marshall even for 47M

brandon marshall would allow the pats to trade moss......

The media criticism has been frustrating, but some of the probing from prospective employers has been downright offensive to Bryant. During one visit, the receiver sat in the office of a franchise’s high-level executive and was asked a shocking question.

They asked me if my mom’s a prostitute,” Bryant says, an account that was confirmed by Wells, who attended the meeting.

“It’s crazy how I’m getting ripped up, and I just don’t get it,” Bryant said, his voice rising. “Before this started, I didn’t know I was such a ‘bad guy.’

Bryant is regarded by most scouts, GMs and coaches to be far and away the most talented receiver in the draft.

This kid has every right to be angry. I would be too. He had a tough time as a young kid and yet he doesn't drink or do drugs. His life is football. And now football is turning its back on him.

I want this kid in a Pats uni tonight! He is pissed and he has something to prove! (I just hope it wasn't a Pats official that asked him that inappropriate question)

I also hope Goodell calls Bryant to find out who it was and acts quickly to bust that guy's chops.
