The Pats first 4 games and the bye week

In looking at the new schedule I think the first month of the season for New England is going to be alarmingly critical. AFC playoff team Cincy and then our divison featuring Miami and New York on the road. Going into our week five bye I think we will know a lot about our team and their chances at the post season in the first quarter of the regular season. Let's hope for a fast, solid start. I don't think we can afford to be rusty or dealing with a learning curve. Just my opinion.

If we start anything besides 3-0, we're looking at a problem early on and a hole that we may have to dig ourselves out of. That Miami game should be pretty tough at first glance (though I reserve the right to change my mind on that statement after the draft) Sure the heat won't be as much of a factor, but the humidity should still be present. On top of that, this is Miami's first big primetime game of the year and that stadium will be going off. Cincy we should be able to beat and the Jets will be without a few weapons which should amount to a win for us. The Bills have not beaten us since 2003 and, though there could be a tough game, we should win there as well. @ Miami should be the toughest game of the first four weeks before the bye.

Although the toughest stretch is In The middle of the season, the beginning will either gve us an inside track on the division, or hav us looking in from outside

Heat nota factor? IDK where you live in Fla, but in Port Saint Lucie it's still blazin until about December honestly. Miami is like 100 miles South as so I doubt heat isn't a factor. I'll be there, sweating my cajones off cheering hard:]

I don't think we have to worry too much about Cincy for sure, they fell apart fast at the end of the season and I really like that we open the first four weeks with division rivals and end the last five weeks with division rivals.

And my reasoning is this: As Kontra stated, the Jets will be without weapons and have lots of 'new' players with a small learning curve. Miami? Sorry but I am not afraid of them in the least, it may be hot and muggy but I see an easy 10 point victory and their young'uns struggle to learn. (Sorry, I don't count the Bills in the first four games...)

Last four games include what? Jets, Bills and Dolphins again. Bills will be done by then, Miami will be trying hard to get a wild-card and I truly believe by then that the Jets, their ignorant "we're out of the playoffs" coach and that unstable locker room will implode well before Dec. 6th.

I see the first four weeks as: 3-1 and the last five weeks as 4-1. And that's handing someone a win in each scenario.

Honestly like ALP said, it's the stretch in the middle that I am worried about.

I think Tom & Co. can easily post up a 12-4 Division winning record.

As a side note, I sent a text to a good friend last night about the opening game. He is a HUGE Cincy fan...he swiftly texted back "G*D DAM*IT".

Heh, I live Stuart. Anyway at that time of night, the humidity will be more of a factor than the heat.

I think the only one we really need to worry about is the Jets game. Depending on whether or not all of the new people work out well with them, it could be a challenge.

Undoubtedly the success of the season comes down to the division games. The Patriots have not been swept by the Jets or Dolphins in a decade, nor have they finished with a worse record than either team. With all the hype coming out of NY, and a pretty tough Dolphins squad, 3-1 would be a very good record against those opponents next year.
