Apparently the Pats are moving to the Senior Division of the NFL and forgot to notify their fans. Pretty funny (in a sad sort of way) if true.

Can we give Brady some real weapons?

This offseason has been horrid

Seems like it's a rumour from a fan (whose tweets on the matter seem to have disappeared).

I think this is being hugely understated - he caught 50+ balls for 700+ yards last year in a run-first offense. He's a huge upgrade over Sam Aiken.

I like the signing a lot.

It's better than nothing.

722 yards in 15 games in a passing game with no elite type weapons. Better than Aiken and current day Patten.

i like the signing and hopefully it is true. we'll find out in a day or two if it is true. Holt will work out a lot better that Mr. Galloway.

Hopefully this is true. Not an off the charts signing, but the Pats can't go into the draft with Sam Aiken as a Week 1 starting WR.

First, who is this Pat Gallagher who is providing this rumor. From his Twitter account, he looks to be a Reebok employee.

Second, I don't think Holt would be a bad addition as a stopgap WR. He may have lost a step, but he also has had crap throwing to him the last two years. I think he is type of receiver that would fit in well in the Pats' offense. Of all the WRs currently available on the market, he would be the second guy on my list to acquire after Coles.

Let me see money and terms before I make a judgment. 1 year at short money and he's a decent insurance policy in case Tate or a rookie can't win the job of the second outside WR.

As stated above, better than Aiken.

I don't care if he were 50, he'd still be an upgrade over Aiken/Patten. I like the signing.

Did he ever improve toughness and ball security from his younger days? :)

Hoping it's true. Still productive, and a better option to line up outside than Aiken etc. Also probably can hurt the likes of Edelman and Tate to have a 2nd HoF WR around the place.

Bingo. If true, our depth chart looks like this (without Welker to start):

Moss
Edelman
Holt
Tate/Patten/Aiken (whoever wins it out)

Not deep, but it's a full set of WR's with some competition (albeit weak) at the bottom, and a pro bowler coming back halfway through. Throw a rookie or two in the mix, and see how it shakes out in camp, I think we'd be fine.

I can think of worse WRs to sign.

But...but...GUYS! He's old!
