I worded my point poorly, Miguel. I meant long-term, big-money deals. Neal's 4 year deal was certainly a commitment, but the dollar value was reasonable.

I had forgotten about Compton's. 3 yr $3m was decent money back then- but not big money.

Are you now saying that "In the Belichick era, the team has shelled out long-term big money deals at every position on the field- except guard and fullback"??

If so, I would add tight end, tackle, cornerback, ILB, punter, and running back to the list of positions.

Pouncey is certainly a safe pick. Let's put another way. Our pick is expected to be able to contribute in 2010 and start in 2011.

Are we really counting on Mankins AND Neal AND Koppen to be our starters in 2010 and 2011. Pouncey could start at any of three positions in 2010 (at any time this was needed) and could starter in 2011.

And yes, Pouncey would constitute "Mankins insurance".

I agree in reality i don't mind pouncey in the 1st. He could cover 3 positions on the interior of the line and seems just like something bill would do. "we need a pass rush,de,te,wr " ... we pick a guard/center haha

Great, good kicker.
Should have let him try and kick the FG in the SB

Good to have the Ghost back he is in my top 5 favorite Pats.

Disagree. Tackle (Light), CB (Bodden), ILB (Mayo, maybe Bru but could be a stretch) and RB (Dillon) all got excellent deals.

Punter doesn't count. C'mon.

TE I concede.

Are you saying that excellent deals equals long-term big money deals???

If so, Bodden did not get a long-term big-money for a cornerback. Ditto for Mayo and Brushi. Ditto for Dillon.

In terms of a great payday for the player- yes.

Did the team think that the player was worth it and that there was good value for $5m or so a year and whatever the respective signing bonus was- yes.
