Patriots host WR Dez Bryant

Didn't really see it coming but it makes sense. His stock is falling and the Pats might as well get a closer look at the best WR in the draft should he fall to them.

They should strongly consider him if he falls to 22. He's immature, but our locker room should be strong enough to enable him to grow up.

Defense. We need Defense and a pass rush.
With our 2nd rounders we can grab someone like Damian Williams who is a solid WR.

You don't need a Jerry Rice WR to win the SB.

Bryant won't make it to #22 but if he did we also have plenty of picks to get defense in the second round. I'm not sure how smart Bryant is but if he's smart enough and somehow made it to our pick we wouldn't pass on him - again, if intelligence isn't a problem. Three defensive picks in round two is more than enough.

We're going to need to replace Randy Moss after 2010 (I really don't believe he'll be back). Bryant would be the perfect guy to do that, unless you want to use Oakland's pick next year or A.J. Green or Julio Jones.

The guy's a beast and we have a huge glaring hole at WR, so I say draft the man if he falls to us. If anyone can get Dez's head on straight it's BB.

Maybe...but even stronger editions of the Pats locker room didn't manage to mature Bethel Johnson or Chad Jackson.

They just sucked. I was talking about Bryant's attitude.

Where did you get that Chad Jackson was cut do to maturity issues? He was cut because he didn't earn Brady's trust with his route running..

As for Bethel, his issues were injuries more than maturity.

Bryant is better than Bethel or Jackson. He's hands down the best WR in this draft. He's on par with Larry Fitzgerald, in my opinion. Yes, he's a bit immature, but he idolizes Randy Moss. Playing on the same team as Moss might be just the thing he needs (comments at the draft party about players forgetting their cleats notwithstanding). Remember last year everyone was leery of Vontae Davis for his immaturity and not playing up to his physical abilities? Well, he sure is turning out pretty well down in Miami.

Also, the whole thing about Deion is really overblown. Darius Butler is one of Deion's guys, too, and he's been nothing but a model citizen during his time here. Might be worth the risk if he falls--which I don't think he will.

Our locker room is about as bad as it has been in the past 10 years

Last year it was. Vince, with his big pay day, has been pretty vocal this offseason as have a few other guys. I think they can handle a rookie WR, should he fall to us in the draft.

This is great news IMO. (my avatar). I think this guy's ceiling is Moss, Fitzgerald ad will have an immediate impact. He needs to be taken at #22.

This shows how good he is:

1. He missed most of his last season for lying or something.
2. He is reported "irresponsible".
3. He's still projected to go top 15.

I doubt it's smokescreen, he's not a reach type of player and is by far the best WR in the draft.

If I had to choose, I'd use a draft pick (via trade) on a PROVEN bad boy WR rather than a rookie.

i.e. if you could choose between Brandon Marshall and Dez Bryant, who would you take?

One also has to realize that guys who are brought in are usually those the team has questions and concerns about. Those with no questions or concerns who don't visit are often the guys chosen - not the ones in for a visit.

Beyond that, if the Patriots are thinking of trading back, it's in their interest to show some level of interest in coveted players... any team coveting Bryant from 23 down will need to consider making a trade offer to the Pats, as they don't know whether the interest is genuine or not.

It's all part of the Chess Game that is the NFL.

I would take Dez Bryant in a heart beat.

Yeah, he isn't proven like Marshall, but Marshall is a bad locker room guy. I don't think there is anything saying Bryant is a bad locker room guy or that his teammates didn't like him or vice versa.

There's more risk with Bryant, but less $$ is involved and his ceiling is as high or even higher.

Bryant lied to the NCAA about having met with Deion at Deion's place for dinner. And the NCAA turned it into a big todo over NOTHING. Granted, Bryant shouldn't have lied, but i have no doubt when he said that he felt they were attacking him with their questions. Friggin NCAA is like Congress. They think they have the right to control what these kids do in their free time.

They are just doing due dilligence. If Bryant drops that far, they want to have an evaluation on his character and abilities to see if they are comfortable enough with him to pull the trigger at that point. Risky pick, but also high upside. Character questionable. Those kinds of questions are usually best answered face to face.

Just read what happened. How the Hell is that worthy of a seasin suspension,WTF? I understand if Bryant is troubled by that.

I take it your in favor of Bryant if he falls to #22.

BTW, Moss and Bryant would be one fun year that is similar to veteran Cris Carter and Rookie Randy Moss as one of the best tandems ever.

Wow! I didn't know Bryant was so highly touted.

Brandon Marshall's been averaging 102 receptions for three years straight.

A great many rookie WR - including Brandon Marshall himself - need a season or two to develop.

Seeing as we're without Welker NOW, I'd be perfectly happy with Marshall's 102 receptions now rather than waiting a year or two for Bryant's "higher ceiling" to develop.... even if scouts are projecting him to eventually make Marshall's 102 catches pale in comparison.
