I think I'll have one right, for sure, probably two. 3 is almost impossible because nobody will fall that far.

I don't mean for this to be in any way disrespectful of the spirit of the contest. This obviously isn't what I think will or (God knows) should happen, but it is my best effort at finding a system to predict the highest number of the Patriots' picks. I took the first seven TEs from the list of those the Patriots have had contact with, and then added five players at positions of need that I like that I figure have a chance to go in the 2nd round. My logic is 1) We will draft at least two TEs and possibly more. 2) Since we have 3 2nd round picks it makes sense to try and cluster predictions there rather than try to nail our lone first rounder.

A time honored method - no worries.

12 is a big number. We could very well see someone get 3 this year.

Mardy Gilyard WR Cinn
Roddrick Muckelroy OLB TX
Kyle Calloway OT Iowa

It is totally within the rules of the contest, but speaking from experience the cool part of this is going back to see what you were thinking months and years later. Things like predicting a guy the Pats will draft relatively early but ends up going undrafted and playing in Canada (not saying that has ever happened to me. it was a friend of mine.)

So while your current approach is more likely to get you the mythical 3 correct picks, I think you will enjoy trying to hit as many as possible.

Ah, the "maximize future humility" approach, nice. :)

I think a lot of us take a middle path, listing maybe 3 top candidates at a couple of key positions, then filling in with specific players we have a good feeling about at other positions.

Of course, so far NO approach has worked, so the TE extravaganza is as good an idea as any. Though last year that approach would have led you to list seven OLBs...

I think, as a joke, I suggested an all-TE draft. And still got none. :p

I started this one as a joke (my "real" entry is one page one), but now that I look at it, I would probably be more happy with this draft than the actual draft......

Brandon Graham, DE Michigan
Brandon Ghee, CB Wake Forest
Brandon Lafell, WR LSU
Brandon Spikes, LB Miami
Brandon Lang, DE Troy
Brandon Carter OG, Texas Tech
Brandon Deadrick, DT Alabama
Brandon Banks, WR Kansas State
Brandon Minor RB, Michigan
Brandon James, RB Florida
Brandon Sharpe, DE Texas Tech
Brandon Brinkley, CB Houston

Covers all the needs, pass rusher, WR, ILB, OG, too bad there wasn't a punter named Brandon...

to team up with Tate and Merriweather.

Seems you are pretty convinced the Pats will use a 4 man front with Morgan, who I like also, Alualu and Wooton on your board. No complaints from me as I also have become convinced the 40 front will be used most of the time this year. Signing D. Lewis, a 4/3 DE from the Panthers finally did it for me after some signs pointed to the 40 since last year. The Pats also have Brace, Pryor and Grady to keep legs fresh inside. These inside players can collapse the pocket. All that's missing is the pass rushing DE's and here they are in Morgan, Wooton and Alualu.
